OK this is kind of a dumb question but I just can't get a strait answer. My truck is a 1999 4x4 with all the option except leather and I was wanting to know why it doesn't have the little black plastic air dam on the bottom of the front bumper? All it has is a black rubber flap that I tuck up into the front bumper. Could someone tell me what is up with this, I'm totaly lost.

Thanks

Front Air Dam

Was/is optional equipment. I think it is approx. $20. 00 or $25. 00 when you order the truck. If you want to pick one up at the dealer I think they are around $60. 00.

Just a thought,,,,,,,,,

Did you order it brand new? The reason I ask is that when my Dad ordered his 2000 V-10 2500, I think it was an option. I sat down with the salesman and fake ordered a truck in both diesel & V10 to see what the difference in price would be before I ended up buying one off the lot and I think I remember it as being an option also just like the cab lights and fog lights.

I ended up getting the Sport which doesn't have the air dam because they came out with the redesigned Sport bumper & grill.

However, I could be wrong. :D

I didn't order it on mine, but it came on it. It's not listed on my sticker, and there were no additional charges for it. It is listed when you do the fake ordering/configuration on the Dodge website, though. I took mine off, by the way.

I believe the black rubber flap is on all of the trucks - whether the air dam is on it or not.

OK, I know it wasn't an option because I ordered it twice and I never seen anthing about an air dam. The reason I was wanting to know is I'm thinking of getting a set of factory tow hooks for the front and noticed everyone else is talking about cutting the air dam. I thought they were talking about the bumper itself not the little plastic air dam, but know I know what they mean when they are talking about the air dam. So I guess the mexicans forgot to put it on?;) I guess it doesn't make a diffrence if its there or not but every other ram I see has it on the bumper.

So what's the storey with the rubber flap, do you tuck it up into the bumper or leave it hanging down?

I believe the correct position is tucked up, least that's where I keep mine ( rubber flap, that is) :D

If you want a air dam without cutting holes for tow hooks, you have to get one from Mopar that fits a 1500 4x4 Offroad it has the holes in the right places from the factory, also the Mopar tow hooks have special brackets to fit the Ram trucks.

I think I'll pass on the air dam (it just get torn off) but I'm going to the dealer next week to have the rear pinion seal replaced and the hood latch recall taken care off, and I think I'll pick up a set of the Mopar tow hooks. (always good at spending money):D

Scott W. I keep mine tucked up and out of the way to. (the rubber flap that is):D

Thanks again Guys
