I think this was done on my truck, if i get time this weekend i will get a close up shot with the digcam and post it, i know the lines seem to be bypassed to the best of my knowledge... will post asap. i work 9-8 tomorrow and sunday 9-6 so maybe i can get a shot in between those times.

I'll get some pics tomorrow- probably send them to Philip so he can shrink them down for posting. I aint got it figured out, and neither has my helper.

My truck is a 91 D350 cab/chassisis it is rather heavy and it has rather soft brakes. So I disconnected the ABS plug @ the diff to see if it made any improvement. No improvement at all in the brake feel or effectiveness. Was this the correct way to eliminate the ABS for trouble shooting purposes? Or do I need to disconnect this grey box? I have the 3" brake shoes as well as the bigger 1 ton GM wheel cylinders which did help a little but the brakes are still very soft.

Will this make you feel like you can stop? I converted mine over to the 3" brakes and 1" wheel cylinders and my brakes still feel spongy, I've had a few instances where I thought I might be replacing sheet metal, it diffinitely doesn't stop like the '03 I have. If this will work I will try it.

No. This will make you feel like a dummy for not doing it sooner!

It will make you STOP. I couldn't believe the difference, I had the same symptoms. Now, solid pedal, good stops, nice! :D

Well I finally revisited this while doing an axle-ectomy. (long story)I decided to forgo the fitting fiasco and go direct. I cut into the main line going to the ABS valve and re-used the threaded fitting that connects to the flex line to the axle. I then double flared the main line and plumbed it into the flex. DONE! Now the ABS valve is ballast.

I have an EGR rear disk brake kit installed. Is there any reason to believe that bypassing the RWAL will act differently from the OEM drum brakes?

Regards, DBF

i would say not. i had a rear disc setup on my ramcharger, which had no rwal, and it was awesome. only drawback i experienced with it was in the winter, when the pads would freeze to the rotors after i let it sit for a while. i do't think you're gonna have that problem though.

DBF, pull that valve and scrap it. Use the money to buy beer, or your favorite beverage. I swear by getting rid of that thing. My $. 04. (inflation):-laf

YOU did it correctly ! You may be the only one to do so... . so far that I have read!! good luck !
