I have enjoyed reading this thread and hearing how well your truck is holding up. I am picking up a used 2014 4x4 3500 DRW with the Aisin 6 speed on Thursday. I have 30' 5th wheel camper and my wife hauls a 3 horse slant trailer around to the local rodeo's and we are looking forward to the upgraded power that the 6.9 has compared my old 02 2500. Keep us updated on your truck and I hope this one does as well as yours.

I only have the 2500, but it handles trailers with live loads well with a nice smooth ride. My largest load was 10 young steers.

Were those 10 young steers nervous/worried about you only having the 2500 to haul them?? :-laf

They didn't like being loaded. They were bucking and pooping everywhere.

Once we got the squeeze gates closed in sort of a 4 head/3 head/3 head compartmentalizing, they didn't have as much room to move. However, when on the freeway and getting some semi trucks passing us, I could detect a bit of cargo movement. But I was impressed with how well my 2500 crew cab short bed handled the 24 ft trailer and live load. Tracked straight even with the movement

Wow! Thanks for the details and the story. Sounds like it was an adventure for the steers. A 2500 is a capable truck and can do a lot of work when needed. I think the 10 steers enjoyed and appreciated the smooth ride too! Enjoy your truck and many safe miles.

The steers were more worried about being in transit by an operator towing the trailer with no working trailer brakes... :-laf

Yes, that is true. No trailer brakes. (Don't tell my girlfriend). They didn't tell me about the trailer brake issue until I got there at 5 am , hooked up the trailer, and the trailer brakes were locked up. See this.

So after we returned with the load, I rewired their adapter so now after not having trailer brakes for 10 years, they now have trailer brakes. They just don't have a trailer brake controller.
