Ford ESCAPE DIESEL!?

Jeep Liberty CRD - new info out

don't want to start a issue here, just wanting opinions on two things:

first why does all the ill-informed public think that ford owns Cummins?

and two why do educated people who own a Cummins engined trucks always mis-spell to read "cummings"?

sorry... just two of my pet peeves:mad:

Ford used to at one time own stock in Cummins, now the lame Ford sales people use it as a sales tactic to sell the want to be diesel 6. 0. However they don't realize that they no longer own stock or any part of Cummins

1 If you are selling Furd Power Joke you aren't the reddest apple on the tree anyway

2 Just proves you don't have to be a rocket surgeon to own a "cummings" powered truck. But smart enough not to buy Duramin or Powerjoke.

Robert --

Thank you for your question.

Cummins is an independent manufacturer, and Ford has no ownership stake in the company. In the past, Ford did indeed own a small portion of Cummins' commons stock, but since the late 1990s that is no longer the case. Cummins is a Ford supplier -- Ford purchases medium-duty engines from us.

Last year, Cummins shipped a record number of diesel engines to DaimlerChrysler for use in the Dodge Ram pickup. We have a long-term supply agreement with DaimlerChrysler, which makes Cummins the exclusive diesel engine supplier for the Dodge Ram through 2007.

Subject: Cummins ownership

Hello,

I have heard from several people that Cummins is now owned by Ford Motor Company, and Dodge is waiting to hear if Ford will allow Cummins engines to be installed in Dodge pickups. _ I have searched the Cummins and Ford websites and have found no information to back this up, and figured it just another "urban legend", however the people who keep telling me this don't believe me- so I figured I could get this information from you in writing. _ Is Cummins Inc. (CUM)_owned either in whole or in part by the Ford Motor Company (F)?
