I just don't know which synthetic to use

ok I have a 47 re auto with a manual shift transfercase, who makes or what brand synthetic fluid comes most highly recommended for these

Chrysler ATF4 is full synthetic and is factory fill in the '03. It has all the additives necessary for best operation. I topped mine off with it (do not overfill, bad as low fluid) and will continue to do so in the future. It's $7-8 a quart and for now only available through the dealership. I use my truck for work so they give me the commercial discount.

Why don't you write down all the names of all the different makers of ATF fluid . Then cut them into little strips and throw them into a hat, close your eyes (no peeking) and draw one out. See wasn't that easy. Now go fill the trany with it, and let us know how the stuff worked.

Amsoil ATF is rated as a +4 fluid, and can be used in the transfer case as well.

So how many quarts would I need to do transfercase and transmission?

Your looking at 3. 5 Qts. for the transfer case, and if you change out the transmission as well as the TC, you will need about 13 Qts. You can buy in 2 1/2 Gal. containers, or Qts.
