Ijust installed my dss,(6 week wait though). It is awsum. For those that dont have it yet i will give my estimation of percentage of improvement in a few areas.

Bump steer 85%

wander 95%

general stability 70%

This is not a sales pitch, I could have made the thing in my shop in maybee 20 minutes. The guy has a good product though and the preceeding %improvements are for real on my 2002 4x4 LB. Thanks again darin.

I doubt you could make it in 20 minutes. It does look simple, and it's done very well. I think a big chunk of the cost is the bearing, machined extension, and that goofy little ring that does the tighten-up. (PFM :D )

With all the right tools in a dream shop, you'd be hard pressed to make it in 20 minutes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knocking you, (it looked WAY too simple to me too) after a good look at "the kit" I decided my time was better spent elsewhere. If you figure finding material, powdercoating, layout, welding, then machining the extensiion, finding a bearing, etc. it looks like a DEAL. Darin is set up to crank out many. You would pay for 2 to make yourself one. JMHO of course.

(BTW: I love mine. Can't wait until there is one for the 03, which I'm sure will need one)

Guys, I'm still skeptical. Were any of you skeptical before you got it and have been pleasantly surprised. I know my Cherokee with 130k miles drives way nicer than my Ram with 40k! In the CTD, I am constantly steering left to right to go straight! The little Jeep though, is like its on auto-pilot, effortless, the way the Ram should be.

you wont believe the difference, I bought is as cheap insurance for the steering box

man when I used to hit potholes and ruts the frontend would bounce, well this really took away the loose frontend

another happy customer :)

Yup, I got one too! I can't believe the difference.

If anyone in the Pacific Northwest needs one, Randy's Off Road has them in stock.

correct umundo

Youre right, I could not have made the extension at all, I dont have a lathe. The bearing, holder, retaining ring you purchase, so you are correct my friend. The excitement over my improvement got the better of me. Anyways, dont make one buy one from darin.

My truck was pretty new and I had adjusted the camber already with the adjustable replacement ball. The truck does drive straighter with the DSS however I did notice that the turn radius is slightly less now. geusterman

Just ordered mine yesterday!! Oo. Oo. Man I hope it works as good on my truck as some of yours. This thing is driving me crazy!!!

BD has one in their showroom, I bought one from them, brought it home and installed it the next day.

My 94 has never driven this good.

$150. 00 well spent.

Has anyone had a problem with the sway bar contacting the DSS bearing support? After installing mine I noticed there is no room for downward travel of sway bar. This might be a problem under extreme articulation of front axle putting the sway bar under a lot of twist, in turn putting pressure on the DSS and steering gear. Have not heard any complaints, just wondering...

The DSS was definitely an improvement to the steering in my truck. In fact, a friend has the same year model truck as mine. In my truck, he has taken his turn at the wheel during some of our hunting trips and commented that the steering is much better than his. After explaining what accessories I had installed on my truck, he too plans to install the DSS.

I think it has stabilized things enough in the steering to prevent/prolong the inevitable "Death Wobble".
