PowerStroke vs Cummins 4BT

it's in the scratch and dent clearance section the new stuff is $56 a case, i have 2 i may go back and get the other 3 they had left and be set for the rest of the decade:-laf so check out your local sam's if you run delo

is it true you cant get the old c14 oil anymore ? i buy john deere plus 50 and its still c14 i wouldd imagine the other equipment manufactures engine oil would be the old oil formulation as well because they dont have to deal with the particulate traps and emmisions that on road oils and equipment must meet?

soon all new engines [off road & on road] will be meeting the same emission standards. . the difference between them was the time they had to comply by [so, off road stuff will be getting egr, cats/traps/src/doc whatever you want to call them, just later]

My Sam's only has Rotella but Costco carries Delo I think. I bought a 6 pack of Delo at my local oil supply when I was buying a bunch of Schaeffer stuff and overpaid for it. I'll for sure check out sams and costco after that lesson.

our two sam's carry both but till now the rotella has been $5 odd bucks higher then delo per case but now they are about the same with the new delo, they even have rotella in a 55 gallon drum but it's only slightly cheaper then the per case price. we don't have costco around here so i can't compare prices on a local level

Good price on that Delo - I assume it was the CI4-Plus stuff? I have several 6-gallon cases myself, and with a bypass filter and 12 month change schedule, am set for several years! :-laf:-laf

For those looking for the CI4

Here in SLC Ut. I found Delo 400 15/40 CI4 @ at an oil distributer, but only in bulk, 5gal cans and 55 gal drums. Every thing they are getting in in prepackaged containers is the CJ4, like gal jugs. Lest its still available.

kaiser;

The older engines need a little more of the suspension additives than the newer engines, because of the soot they produce. We be changing more often. That is why there is getting to be more of us that are going to the by-pass fitration add ons also.

Talked to a couple guys that say the OTR guys are starting to have engine problems because of the new formula used in the oil and the new fuel. and these are later model trucks, not 07's of course. Just somethink else to think about.

Is there really an advantage to using CI-4+ over CJ-4? I don't think so.

Then, by all means you should be using the CJ stuff - and those of us with the older engines and NO emissions-related lube dictates by EPA or warranty issues due to particulate filters and Catalytic converters, can use the older stuff that was developed for, and has worked so well, in our older engines.

This way, we're ALL happy campers... :-laf:-laf

ME, I'll continue to use CI4-Plus in my '02 as long as I can find it... ;)
