To those of you sitting on the fence, whose transmission should I run. I just wanted to share my experience with Bill and the Kondolay family. First let me tell you about their product . I installed one of their units about 2 years ago when I was at 490hp. 20,000 miles later, I am now at 610hp, plowed snow for two seasons, drag racing for two seasons, won the the division one title with a best time of 12. 62 at 110mph and drive it everyday . ALL ON THE SAME TRANSMISSION . For you guys still sitting on the fence. Now let me tell you about their service. I thought this year I would install a mystery switch, thought maybe I'll get in the 11s if I bypass the torque managment system and lock the converter. Well I botched the install, and after that I found the trans stuck in the limp mode. So I called the Kondolays,Bill would stop what he was doing, and talk me through the diagnosis. He'd make me hook up pressure gauges. And lead me through voltage checks. He didn't owe me anything,Thankyou Bill, and the whole DTT, Kondolay, family for putting up with me. Your completely satisfied customer Merv DeMello

he is a true gem in the industry... people like them just dont exist these days im sad to say. although inthe diesel realm seems like lots of good people hide out around here...

Bill and Co. were heading south for a race, and I happened to be in Oregon (up from San Diego) but wanted to swap out my ailing stock transmission. Bill managed to squeeze me in, I showed up at 8AM, and by 11:30, my AWESOME transmission was installed, road tested, and I was on my way south! Outstanding service, and Bill has always been there for tech support, even before I went the new transmission route. Bill-if you read this one, and for those that have problems, found the source of my lock-up problem, it was a "questionable" ground. Cleaned it up and no problems in over 7k. Thanx Bill!

Bill has helped me too. The lady in the office had me call him on his cell phone. I was under my truck in NC answering Bill's questions on a cell phone talking to him in BC. I was trying to buy something from him and the whole time he kept asking questions. He finally figured out my problem (incorrect adjustment of the kick down cable) told me how to fix it and didn't sell me a thing. I've got to find a good transmission shop close by when I need a new DTT installed.

I can say the same for him. He diagnosed a transmission issue and walked me through the repair when I wan't even a customer. He even gave me the dealer parts numbers for the pieces I needed

I am one of DTT's original customers and you know what I would will never go to any other Trans maker, Bill, Shanti, Stephan and the rest of the family are the best people you will meet. Some say Bill is a little on the "aggressive" side but hey I think that is what I like about him :D My trans is still going strong and I am not easy on it.

Love mine also, Bill sure does design some good parts, but I'm a little different as inarush76 did my build-up, good parts and a good builder/installer makes for getting some serious power to the ground.

For TKremer

DTT will custom build your unit for you,so the price will vary. Best thing to do is call Bill, have all your info. ready your:Rear axle ratio. Tire diameter, how you fueling injectors size, what kind of fueling box what kind of turbo,What are you going to do with the truck in the future. How you drive it,do you towing, and what weight. Merv

I have a question. This is a little off the subject, but i need to know. MR. morderator forgive me if I am off the beaten path a bit.

I few of the trans shops including Gale Banks (no bashing, he helped me out many of times just fixing my truck, and I don't even own anything of his) say that it is important to have a solid billet piece up from. that the stamped owns will warp.

That is the only thing keeping me from buying their trans. My old 99 truck I had to lemon law because i could not keep a trans under it. I only want to have to fix a trans once. I am not after 1million horse power, or 5 trillion lbft of torque. I want a modest 300-375 hp to the wheel and 800lb of torque. Just a smiggin more than a banks power pack.

I just have one long grade that I am gonna be towing up ever. Otherwise I am just 4wheeling or driving back and forth to work.

Thanks. Why hasn't DTT gone to billet anyway?

Chris

ps i know that these are probably question for bill anyway, just hard to get to call.

here is some good reading

The reason why companies use Billet covers is because their clutches inside the converter are actually slipoping. They are using the cover as a heat sync. Which is kind of stupid because chances are you are going to have to change the flexplate before you see any benefits of the billet cover.

Companies will tell you that the converter balloons out and that is why you need it. Well if you put a pressure gauge and monitor the pressures within the converter you will be hard pressed to find the pressures even hittiing 120 psi. When you start hitting these companies with actual pressure readngs they usdually shut their mouth and start singing a different tune.

In the drag racing industry billet covers are quite common, as a matter of fact I run one in my own car. However the one in my racecar has billet covers on all sides. If you truly want to a converter from ballooning you have to protect it from all sides.

In the high performance industry you dont see anti ballooning plates unless you are buzzing above 5000rpms, I dont see too many dodge diesels buzzing over 5000. You know what , the question you need to ask these companies is how can the TC balloon with so little pressure inside the converter? If a converter is going to balloon it is going to balloon on all sides equally , why protect it on one side only?

I'll tell you what.......

When I was working on my DTT transmission and had a question, Bill took my phone calls between runs at the race track on the Weekend, Now thats customer service second to none!

DTT has fixed the problem with-out the flashy stuff.

They use a better lining for this clutch-it can stand a lot for heat and grips better ( I believe). Then they solve the cause of slippage-not the result.

Many are out there that are holding 600-800 hp and 1200 + torque.

I am not a dealer for they, just a believer.

thanks for the information. I was sold on a triple disc tc. I know that DTT has probably the largers following in tdr. but that billet thing scared me away. Now I have to do even more research to find out exactly what I need.

Like I said in my triple disc thread. 3000 dollars is a lot of money to be wrong and get the wrong set-up.

Back to the drawing board.
