For me, I need the 8' bed more than I need the back seat.

Can't argue with that logic. But come to think of it, I don't recall ever seeing an HD 2500/3500 diesel in my area with a regular cab. See lots of 1500s with a regular cab, but off the top of my head I can't say I've ever seen a regular cab diesel on the lots or driving around North Texas. I wonder if it's a regional thing. I went to Kansas City to look at trucks but the KC dealerships had fewer diesels on their lot than I've seen in parking lots here.

If it was one or the other I'd go with the 8' bed over the QC, too. But I plan on getting a couple of dogs and don't want them to travel long distances in the bed.

regular cab long bed right here in Dallas. bought the truck out in your neck of the woods... lots of single cab diesels around here. maybe it's because we've got tight corners to cut in the city?

Let's go one step further

After reading this thread (boy was that difficult) & getting into the spirit of it - the logical next step is.....

Who would want a truck without duel rear wheels!

If you can't put a couple pallets of bricks in the back does it mean it's not a truck?

PS. - I love my 98' Short bed 2wd. Every truck serves a purpose , I say , Get the one you want. something with a big C on the side preferably!

One model I don't see a lot of is a 3500 regular cab dually. They sure do catch my eye when I see one. I think all generation trucks look cool in that configuration.

I ran a short box as a builder for 7 years no problem. Used a headache rack at cab height (no whisteling) and ran 20 foot stuff from tailgate (reinforced with aluminum wrap-around plate) up over the rack with a single tie down. Worked fine. Now have longbed for camper. Also taking this incredibly dent-prone box off and putting aluminum flatbed with headache rack on it. Shortbeds are great and look better too. If I coulda I would have one. George

There's reasons for both. To each his own.

I couldn't agree more. Somebody hit the self destruct button on this thread.

Exactly, I guess there is a reason that they make more than one cab and bed configuration, huh? The more options available the better, everyone has there own needs and desires.

Yeah, Lets go back to talking auto vs. 6 spd or 4x4 vs 2wd... ... . or which color is better! :D ;)

Although, I must disagree, this isn't the dumbest conversation on this website, check out the 600 hp 2005 cummins thread or the "Ford Rules" threads. :D :D

I agree on the duallies looking awesome with a long bed. If i would have got a dually i would have had a Quad cab/long bed. Yes it would be a monster/ bus but who cares they look like mini semis

And speaking of semis, I saw some nice rigs at the stock show this year. Luxury semi tractors with full length luxury trailers that house both livestock and people. The sleeper part of the cab was set up to hold the rest of the family. I bet those rigs cost close to $500,000.
