So... ... ... I have spoken to several cummins guru's and have been told the best setup for my 04. 5 ram I would be a smarty S06 downloader stacked with a TS Performance MP8. I currently have a Van Aaken C5 Smartbox (adjustable 5 level 180hp) programmer. I know... ... ... ... . old technology but it works really well. 5 inch turbo back exhaust, banks air ram cold air intake w/super scoop and banks high rise intake. Air dog fuel preporator supplies the fuel to a stock pump system. This combination has shut down more Duramax and Powerstrokes than I can count. I know the addition of 100hp injectors and a Aurora 3000 would be fun, but I need this vehicle to be bullet proof. I use this truck to run expedited freight shipments into the hinterlands of Minnesota, North Dakota and Wisconsin. Can't break down in the middle of nowhere. Anyone out there running the Smarty/TS Performance stack that can give me a little feed back on what to expect?

Having the kind of power you are talking about with the types of mods you speak of is mutually exclusive with a long term bullet proof truck that is used commercially. The most important thing for a reliable modded truck is the engine and drive line being able to support the power. If you mentioned all of you mods, you are already on borrowed time. Good air, in your case probably twins (the Aurora 3000 will not be near enough for what you are talking about), head studs, and maybe valve springs is a good start. The addition of big injectors with the Smarty (especially if it's stacked), will drain the rail so you'll need twin CP3s or similar. Plus a fully built auto is a must. Pay to play. If you truck works for a living, leave it stock.

I appreciate the info. I did change out the Van Aaken for the Smarty/Ts performance stack. I realize I am at the upper limit without "beefing up" the important parts. Torque converter, input and output shaft will be next. I have an air dog 100gph feeding the pump, so a performance pump or twin is possible. This truck is on the highway for the "money runs" and rarely hauls anything heavy. It's never pulled a trailer and has had 1000# in the bed, pretty easy work. Keeping my eye on how this new setup works commuting in town. Seems to be very adjustable an a lot of fun.
