I bought a 97 3500 a month or so ago, put over 7000 miles on it since then, it is one sweet truck. I am about 70, owned many trucks in my lifetime, but never one as sweet at my one ton dually. Anybody else in love with their second gen truck or am I all alone in this perversion?

You pervert!!!

You are most definately not alone. I drive my 2nd Gen purely for fun anymore. It must be a love think because it is for better or worse. There have been plenty of dollars rolling toward its upkeep and performance (sometimes the latter leads to the former), but clearly I am willing.

I guess we are all perverts. So nope you're not alone, we just gather here and talk dirty to each other. Keeps us off the streets. :lol

Hmmm. . now I read what I wrote it doesn't seem right. :(

But I do know how you feel Don, I had a 98 chev 6. 5 turbo and I still have a 83 chev with a 6. 2 that has easily 45,000+ hrs (Can't go by mileage because it's a furnace cleaning truck and works off PTO). I put a 396 in a 85 Suburban 3/4 ton for 4x4ing up north and it has a little more power then the diesels.

But when I bought my CTD... well you know the feeling, can't seem to get rid of the tofu eating grin off my face. The wife thinks I'm possessed. :D :D Maybe just a little.

I love mine ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... Rather be Cummin and Smokin instead of Stroken and Broken... ... ... ... ... ... ... .....

I drive a 2001 7. 3 Ford cube for a living,(500,000+++miles with the ford diesels-2nd truck now)there a reason why i have a 2001 Dodge Cummins in the garage. Wife says i have a smart as% little grin on my face when i do drive the Dodge, absolutly love my second genner and to fire up the Cummins and take it for a spin when i can. :D :D :D

Yep, partial to the 97 also.

Do I love my 2nd gen? Let me count the ways. Opps here comes wifey I'll be in deep if she sees this :-{}. Whew, that was close. Since she's hovering I'll make this short. I was performing my rendition of checking the carrier bearing one day (my 205# a_s, legs around the back shaft - arms around the front, wiggiling side to side and up and down) which truley must be a sight for anyone within range. So, wifey comes out the door, unbeknownst to me, and watches me in this odd looking act (to say the least) when I stop because notice her looking (still hanging from the shaft minde you) she comments, "I was wondering how long you could keep that up, by the way was that good for the truck too"? Then in her most loving tone she adds "I always wondered why you put that big shinny exhaust tip on, it's like your engagement ring for your truck - now I know why". Then she turns and goes back inside. Gotta love that woman:-laf.

:-laf :-laf :-laf -Funny thing with my better half, she supports me 110% all the way(even likes to polish the Dodge Cummins too once and a while),heck half the stuff on my ride comes from her in the name of gifts/presents whatever. All she does is pay attention to what i have circled/bookmarked or read on the computer to find another item that i'v had my eye on. She tends to wonder how and why i can spend 6-8 hour cleaning/ tweeking/working on that thing---don't you "get bored"------"AH no honey it a guy thing".

Joe Mc did your wife get a picture!!! I would pay to see that scene... lmao. I am lucky that my wife supports me also, heck her Dakota sit higher then my CTD and the oldest boy CTD... well it has 16" of lift and 44" rubber. I can't even compete with them for the motor head trophy.

Naw - no picture. Wifey comes from a family of 5 kids, she's the youngest (44), one working parent, big 6 bedroom home (recently sold, In-Laws off to retirement community) so they were very, very frugal and as far as autos go, they were for one thing - to get you from point "A" to "B" & back. I'm working on her though . . . she's a tough nut.

Yes. I love mine too... . When i first got mine , my wife said " Its so loud"!! or " Its so big" And the classic, " It smells" :{ . But when it snowed hard and she had to get to work. My '01 baby got her there, my wife had a different tune. " Wow,Your truck drives in snow like it was nothing" :--) Somehow, the noise, size and smell is ok now... ... . Go figure it..... Nothing like a Cummins Dodge. Enjoy her..... Rick.
