That is the weight scale area about 2 miles from my house and its BIG a forum member had asked about the lanes and it has three so they can spot check trucks if the Virginia State Police are doing Motor Carrier Enforcement for the day.
 
I have to make a bit of a change guys my wife forced me kind of to raise the pressure in the rear tires and the dooleys dually wheels and I'm going to have to go back down to about 45 PSI cold right now they're at 51 and cold and I don't know what the temperature is here in Virginia but I think it's like 52 or something like that but yeah it's I was riding around yesterday with towing towing the RV and they were at 60 PSI and it was brutal I mean you know hard and I don't like hard so I'm going to probably have to put them down to 45 PSI cold that might work what's your guys opinions on that would a 3000 pound pin weight is 45 PSI enough just curious what you guys think now that's in the dually tires of course only the right now the front tires are at 75 PSI let me see what the temperature is the temperature is let's see here I'm looking in the truck and the temperature is 52 degrees 52 degrees 52 degrees yeah give me your opinions guys thanks have a great day funny thing is is so soon as I go 10-15 miles yeah they go up like 8 PSI I guess that's friction?????????????????? And as you guys know I'm using voice to text.
 
I think 45psi should be enough for a 3000 pound pin weight, funny thing is I may start at 45 but after say 20 miles at 70 mph they warm up to around 50 to 52 psi.
I should not have raised the psi to 55 cold so oh well I still think 45 will be ok guys???????
 
Why did she force you to increase tire pressure?

It is a HD DRW truck... it's not going to ride like a Cadillac.

All tires warm up and pressure increases as you drive, that's why it's a COLD pressure setting.

You may want to save that to your phone for easy reference.

Based on the last weight ticket he only needs 40 psi loaded.... but I'm guessing over the next few months mama will load it up.
 
Stewart here is the chart look at the lowest tire listed 235/80/17. Your rear axle weighs 6,740# divided by 4 is 1,685# so using the chart under dual wheel 1,725# is the closest on the chart @ 40psi, Now add 5psi per GY Tech Support recommendations. Bottom line proper inflation for your 4 rear tires is 45psi ea.

Now for the front's 5,6430# load divided by two 2,730#. Chart says for single wheel application closest weight is 2,815# @ 70psi. Adding 5 psi is 75 but there is edge wear to consider so add 5psi more for a total of 80psi fronts ALL the time.

I have used this method for at least 1 million miles with perfect tread wear, stopping contact patch and ride quality.

Also get that front end aligned NOW!!! I can guarantee you will start seeing outside front tire stepping if you don't. Disregard RAM's spec of 1/4" toe and set to 1/64". ONLY rotate front tires side to side leaving the ROTATION the same. Leave the wheels in same location. Do this once every 15k.

As you can see 35psi rear unloaded is MORE than enough carrying capacity at 6,280#.

FYI the MAX inflation of 80psi will net you a total of 11,340# of carrying capacity on the 4 rear tires!

diesel shadow looks like the 80psi part of your chart is off, 35 is correct did not check other numbers.

Ok I had the rear tires put to 44psi and we will see how it rides so far its great after 30 miles the had heated up to 50psi with the trailer and the ride is good.

I am just shocked how much the heat from the rolling with the trailer makes the psi go up in like 25 minutes the fronts go up at least 5psi and the rears maybe six psi and the inside rears always go up the most.

Thanks for the tips guys oh and I will ask to do the 1/64 front end alignments.
Oh even the TRAILAIR airbag goes down like 5 psi at night.

I am sitting in the truck right now guys it is 52° the rear tire pressure the dually tires are at 41 41 41 and 41 the front tires are at 72 and 72 so obviously I'm starting off with 41 in the back and 72 in the front let's see how fast will go with all right guys I bet you twenty miles it's going to go up by probably 6 PSI who knows all right talk to you later guys so the front tires are at 72 the rear tires are at 41 PSI all of them.

Driving psi is all calculated into the COLD inflation numbers. Set rears to 45 and front to 80!!! Anything less on the fronts and the outer edges WILL wear off prematurely.

My fronts were running 88psi yesterday being set 80 cold and temps were 50.
 
Okay guys 25 miles and the fronts are at 84 and the rears are 50 + 49 + 49 + 49 so obviously pretty consistent and yeah I'm going to have to set the fronts at obviously at at cold like yes all right so the scientists the science works and after 30 miles that it went up the rear and I forgot what the funds were at I think if once were at let me see here what were they at at 72.

Stewart forget what the temps get up to! Set to 45/80 COLD. Then when traveling at a certain temp you will know about what normal running temps are for future comparisons.
