Ford's Hydraulic Launch Assist

2001 4x4 Tires

My dad has been looking at Dodge Rams. Wich is fine since he has the little brother of are big Rams A Dakota right now. Then he starts asking question about the diesel. He's been looking at 1st & 2nd gen trucks. Wanting to know if there's any difference between the the two.

What has sparked an urge to look at those diesels. He's had to put up with my smoke & rattle for the past six years. One of the guys he works with just got a dmax. Fuel is cheaper. Better mileage.

It will take him ten years before he finds one. Then a little resistance from ma to. She hates the smell.

Its one of those'' I Have To See It To Believe It'' If he actually gets a CTD.

difference

besides the body difference, the newere (94 up have a few more bugs) however, from what I understand the injection pump on 94?-98. 5 is biggest difference. The 1st gens have a bosch rotary type injection pump, but the 2nd generations have an inline pump with a camshaft type drive with injection valves in row. These newer pumps are lubed by engine oil rather than fuel and are supposed to be more trouble free. They are also capable of a lot more HP output for mods, upto 300+ I believe, where the first generation pumps are good up to around 230? I'm sure someone will straighten this out. Also, I believe automatics in 94 and up have lockup torque converters that 93 and older don't . I have heard the 98. 5 and newer are 24 valve instead of twelve. They also have an electonically controlled injection pump which I believe may have a few bugs. Go to the different forums, 1st, 2nd, etc generation truck and see. I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will post a reply soon. Good Luck.
