I've been trying to buy a Brakesmart for the last month, have called them weekly trying to get them to take my money, last Tuesday I called and they said they are still 6-8 weeks out. I got frustrated and ordered a Prodigy from www.rvwholesalers.com on Thursday, UPS is showing it will be here tomorrow. Price was $108. 99 inc. shipping. Make sure you click on catalog on the main page. If you said you bought an '05, the brake controller harness should have come with the truck.

Now there is some useful info. I will order one up tomorrow. Actually I have an '01 so I am looking for the male plug... ... right? thanks baron

From every thing I heard the vast majority of folks don't use a Jordan. There is a loyal following for that brand also. Why, who knows. My decision was driven by folks I know who have the Prodigy.

Same with My truck. I had a '82 chev with a 6. 2 It was an awesome truck, gutless, great fuel mileage. Several guys I work with had first gens and loved them. When traveling together they would wait for me to catch up after any hill. When the Chevy finally caused too much greif I bought a dodge. What is wrong with the D-max or the Powerjoke, nothing really.

RVWholesalers is a LITTLE slow in shipping! I've been waiting 2 weeks for some stuff I ordered. I have the Jordon Ultima 2020, I got it off eBay (NEW) for $76 + $8 shipping. It was really easy to install. Pluse it works so much better than a Prodigy, true proportioned braking, like Brakesmart.

Tekonsha (manufacturer of the Prodigy) is a large company with an aggressive marketing outreach. Their stuff is available at Camping World and just about every RV dealer in the universe.

Jordan is a cottage industry owned by one individual. Most of his sales are direct sales or Internet sales through word of mouth.

Saying Tekonsha must make the best brake controller because they sell more of them than anyone else is like saying McDonalds must make the best hamburger because they sell more of them than anyone else. I don't think so... .

I ordered it on Thursday the 12th, it arrived on Tuesday the 17th, I wouldn't call that slow from Ohio to NY.

Jordan is the one to buy. If you can install your own air filter you can install a Jordan. Takes less than an hour if you're slow and take your time. You wont regret it and I'll bet no one else has better customer service. Jordan will take care of you and you won't regret it.

I have the Prodigy on my Dodge and have Jordan on my 95 Ford PSD. Have had no problems with either. Have heard nothing but good on the Brakesmart.

I have the Prodigy and the installation and the operation is so simple I could not believe it. I read and reread the instuction manual in case I missed something and it is one automatic controller. I live in utah and routinely take my 32 ft trailer down a 9% grade. NO PROBLEM! The controller is doing the work. Now that being said, the Jordan is probably just as good except I have never owned one. You can try it, but is it as good. If Jordan would like to send me one I would be glad to test it. I probably paid too much for my Prodigy, $124, in 2003.

I have had the Jordan and the Prodogy. Now have the Brake Smart, which is far superior to either of the other controllers. The other controllers have been in use on the same trailer and truck combination so I think it is a good compairson

The Jordan is a truly proportional controller - it varies trailer braking as a direct function of brake pedal travel. The Prodigy is an inertial controller - it varies trailer braking as a function of the deceleration rate of the truck. Thus, the driver has direct control over trailer braking with the Jordan - I almost lost a rig with an inertial controller (Tekonsha Sentinel) because my previous 1996 Ram 3500 suddenly decided to develop a sticking right front caliper (not unusual with these trucks) in the midst of a Gulf Coast thunderstorm - the truck couldn't generate enough braking to engage the inertial controller on the wet road before the right front locked up on the truck. So there I am, right front locked up with no trailer braking - can you say instant jack knife before I even had a chance to manually brake the trailer? Luckily, I was able to get off the brakes, countersteer, nail the throttle and blow through the intersection before the trailer pushed the truck into the ditch.

One other advantage of the Jordan over the Brakesmart or Prodigy. It will apply the trailer brakes even if you happen to lose the truck brakes.
