I've got a 95 2wd standard cab with a 5 speed. just switched rear end to 3. 54 gears. i use the truck to pull an enclosed 14 foot equipment trailer around 5000 pounds through the foothills and mountains of east tennessee. I have felt the clutch slipping recently under load and am afraid it's about time for a new one (97000mi). I would like to find out what you guys think is the best deal on a clutch for my purpose.

Thanks

Call Peter at South Bend Clutch. Tell him what you will be using it for and he will recommend the correct clutch. I wouldn't buy anything but a South Bend Clutch.

i too need a new clutch. . i don't tow much, maybe a few times a year, probably 5-7000 lbs. I probably have about 320 to 350hp right now... i'll probably upgrade my DVs and maybe get new injectors too... with that said, which clutch would be the best choice? Should I go for the Con FE or OFE? Eventually i might get up around 500HP, but who knows... how much beyond 450 will the OFE hold?

The problem with a southbend is there is no slip if you are trying to start out up a slope loaded it eithere grabs or does not and that translates in to a real jerky clutch. Empty it is great, easily hold the power of my 2000 w/ comp and 275s. But if you pull heavy I would try something diffrent.

Maybe mine was not installed properly or broke in correct but I had about 10000 miles on it and no change.
