What makes one brand of brake have more stopping power than enother?

Stopping power is purely a function of backpressure. More = More. You can only push backpressure so far before you flaot your valves though. The most noticeable diffrence would be in the new pressure relief exhaust brakes being able to hold the pressure up higher at lower engine rpm's where they drop off with the older style.

ok..its done

I would like to thank everyone who helped me out... I just got the Pac Brake over the Jake brake for 1 reason only... the air... I was just told by the Lance dealer I will need airbads too... so that sold me. Thanks again, Garth

Something else to think about. If you ever plan on upgrading your turbo, a remote mount brake gives you a lot more options when choosing a turbo. I bought my BD remote mount brake 'cause they didn't have the turbo mount one when I bought it. Now if I ever "need" a turbo, my options are endless.

Air activated brakes sound soooo cool when you kick 'em on in a parking lot. :D :D :D
