Well For the second Time I had to get a Jump this time was the worst! After a Toyota tried and couldn't I had to do the worst thing possible and I asked a ford owner to give me a jump!

He just smiled and said that had to hurt! I don't think I would have asked you for a jump!!



Well This is the question do I go to the dealer and have them warranty the batt. or just go to Sear's and get Two Die hards!! What do you think??

Batteries

It doesn't matter where you buy them since most stores that sell batteries will stand behind them for a period of time.

I think it is very important that the batteries have removable caps that allow you to check water level. Make sure that you are actually able to remove the cap before you buy it as some batteries "look" like you can remove them but are in fact very difficult if not impossible to remove.

I recommend getting a hydrometer. Use this to determine the weakest cell and then at least once a month, charge your battery so that the weakest cell is equal to the others.

Remember when you charge, that gas and small particles of liquid containing sulfuric acid will be ejected from the battery and can damage your paint, so leave the caps on LOOSELY at the very least.

Optima Yellows have a worse warranty than alot of lawn and garden batteries. I sell them both(Route Manager for Interstate) and see for more yellows come back then reds by a long shot. thats bad considering I sell at least 3 times as many reds as I do yellows. Hardly any of my dealers want to stock a yellow anymore. . all reds. The best Batteries out there next to the Optima IMHO are Interstate, Die Hard and Duralast. I have charged and tested more batteries than most people will even think about in a lifetime lol and these are the best ones.



However, I was at sears getting some tires for my car the other day and decided to check out the battery stock. I found alot of batteries on the shelf that were over a year old(would be DEAD) and alot that were over 3-4 months old. I know I work for them but Interstate Does make the Best Battery out there. They are also $$$ and that keeps them from getting good ratings in CR since price is considered in that. But go with any of the above mentioned batteries and you will be good to go.



Go to Interstate Batteries to find a dealer or warehouse close to you. They will be your best bet for %100 fresh Batteries made this month

For those of you using Optima red-tops, what model are you using and did they fit under the factory hold-downs? Couldn't find our application in the Pep Boys battery book. Thanks!

Anybody have any experience with Batteries Plus. They have a store near me, have alot of special purpose batteries, and their prices seem pretty good. I bought a deep cycle for my last camper from them, but traded the camper 2 months later, so I have no idea if the battery was very good. I buy car batteries at Auto Zone becasue they are cheap, convienent, and can be warrantied anywhere there is an Autozone. I don't know if I'd buy batteries for the truck from them though.

Optima Red-Tops

Just installed a pair of red-tops, model 34, $255 including sales tax. Fit perfectly under factory tie-downs. Sure do spin that CTD faster than the cheapo factory batteries ever did. I and my buddy also use Optimas as boat diesel starter banks.



After 3. 5 years, one of the Dodge factory batteries was seriously worn out. Figured the other couldn't be far behind.

I bought five batteries from them at the time, two yellows for the Dodge, two blue (deep cycle RV/marine) for the trailer, and a smaller Optima for my daughter's Honda. I paid about $140 each for the yellow tops, delivered.



The service was good. The batteries were delivered by UPS. I've been very happy with both the batteries and DC Battery Specialists. My salesman was Dave.

WTMPTL Just the standard and most common red top will do the trick for you. The Part # is SC34U from Interstate, I think that part # apllies elsewhere since Interstate Bought Optima in May of 01. Last time I went to pep boys I checked on there red tops. They were fresh and priced pretty good to.

I did the sears DieHard Golds a year ago. Just less than $150 for both, with tax and all the little accessories. 900CCA

Yet another Jump!!

Well I had to jump it this morning with the wiffers car!! So I'll be shopping today after work!! I have some store credit at sear's, From a boat battery I returned a 8D that's what these trucks need a Deep Cycle 8D with 1500cc amps!!! Now if I could only make them fit!! Well I'm good to shop I'll let you guys know what I get!!!

Hey Adam for as high as you would need to lift those batteries you would need a forklift for those heavy SOBs lol. I am fortunate not to have any dealers that carry 8ds on my route lol

I had a 43' Sail boat That was set up for Cruising and I had eight 8D's on that thing! now I went to sears and ask them how many

8D's they had in stock he said enough and asked me how many I needed and I told him I told him 8 and he allmost hit the Floor well he had to oder four more for me! Well after all that I found out the two of the batterys were new so I had to only replace 6 of them It took a friend and me about 5 hours to replace them!! what a pain in the Butt!! they way about 150 lbs each!! But you would not belive the watts I could put out of that invertor!!

You don't even want to know what the Gell Cell 8ds wiegh in at... its painfull. I used to pick up 2 pallets 3 layers high of those at an RV builder. For one they were almost two much for a forklift but they were also hell on a truck lol. Over 7000 lbs sitting in the Bays behind the rear wheels. Would not have been good to get hit by DOT. "Yes officer I know I am over my trucks GVW on only the rear axle" BTW that was in a International truck not a ram lol

I got the Duralast Golds from Autozone.



And just like my PF friction brake pads (I'm on my first 'free' set, thank you very much!), their going to keep me supplied with fresh batteries now for as long as I own my Ram! Fer FREE!!!

I got mine last winter $109. 00 each.

Well I went with the DieHard Range Handler's there the same as the gold, But the case is thicker and stronger and they have 900CCA not bad, the truck now can't wait to run!! I wonder how good the alternator charges the battery and the passenger side because that one was dead and wouldn't hold a charge?? You guy's should check yours!! It's possible that we only have one good battery. .

well they only cost me $43. 00 after the store credit!! We'll see how they last.
