camping recommendation Colorado

A couple of years ago we stayed at the campground a few miles east of town on I-40. I think it was the American RV Park. I remember it as being at the top of a long grade going west. It was a nice place. Does anyone know of a safe, well kept, campground closer to town. I will be working for two ar three days and would like it easier and closer for my wife and kids to find something to do. Thanks for any input.

As I recall, the American RV park is West of Albuquerque, on a rise that gives a good view of the city, especially at night - a decent spot, and seemed priced as well as any in that area.

There's not much in the interior of ABQ, Balloon View looks like it is kept up good and is furthest in town I can think of. There is also one called Stagecoach, north of Rio Rancho near the town of Bernalillo off HWY 550. About 15 minutes out of town, but close access to I-25.

Briman, There's a KOA on the east side of town, between Juan Tabo Ave and Tramway on the south side of I-40. You're 5 miles from the center of town, (I-25/I-40). Real clean, quiet except it backs up right next to the freeway, (I-40). Noise wise, it's no worse than American on top of nine mile hill on the west side of town. Check it out. Ron

there is also a KOA going north on I-25 in Bernalillo. it was about 5 minutes to Albuquerqe and a very nice park. check it out on koa.com

Thanks again for all the replys. After reading about the other places in ABQ on RVreviews.com I made reservations yesterday at American. I liked it OK last time we were there. Next time I will check into the place up north.
