I Need Gooseneck & 5th Wheel Hitches - Any suggestions?

On mine, the fender well liner covered the lever, I just used a 3" hole saw in the appropiate place, works great.

Just installed the b&w turnoverball gooseneck for the same reason. The install was simple,the only thing I did to mine was scuff the grey paint and spray it with some rust resistent krylon semi flat black(the grey seams to rust). I bought it off ebay for $300+$45 shipping. Todd

That looks like a great system Dean - thanks for the recommendation. Next question is - where can I get the best deal on the gooseneck setup? I'll probably wait until I need the 5th wheel attachment before I add it. Nice looking truck by the way.

Reese use to build a good hitch, but don't know anymore. I'm looking into a Hijacker hitch, myself.

had the same concerns you do about a single point attachment for the 5th wheel hitch.

The "single point" is the exact single point for the gooseneck ball. I have no concern, having pulled a 30' heavy gooseneck trailer and my 9,000 5th wheel several thousand miles.



There are actually hard rubber pads on the four corners of the Companion 5th Wheel that contact the floor of the bed. But since there is no movement of the Companion 5th Wheel, they just sit there.



I have pulled with a RBW Lil' Rocker and a Pullrite SuperGlide. I have to say without any reservation, the Companion 5th Wheel has absolutely NO movement compared to those two.



And a good flat black paint applied to the parts that clamp to the frame makes a nice looking installation.



B&W stands behind their product too. They replaced a Companion 5th Wheel for me, no charge, freight paid, that had the powder coat peeling off. And they did all from pictures I sent them.



A couple of things they should add is a spring to hold the 5th wheel plate level (it's heavy to the front edge) and move the latch closing lever lock pin a little closer to the edge. It's hard to reach that lock pin when it is dangling by it's chain on a 4x4 and I am almost 6' tall.

When it's out, I hang my lever lock pin on the spring clip on the lock pin that holds the hitch head on. That keeps it within easier reach.



You're right - I need to find a spring to drop the rear of the hitch head. Shouldn't be hard to do.
