I always wonder with claims of increased mileage with increased power. How do these boxes increase hp so much AND increase mileage?

Well a lot of times they optimize the fuel rate. Like the new common rail boxes increase the fuel rail pressure. They increase the fuel pressure making it atomize better when it hits the chamber. With the fuel being atomized better it takes less fuel to make the same amount of power.

Also I have heard that what it takes to get theese things to pass emisions laws is not always in the best interest of fuel economy. So basically they can be made to run more eficient at higher HP but produce more polution doing it.

Some people do more with their vehicles than let them sit in the garage and pull floats once a year. ;) Do you have any idea how much more your truck would cost me just in speeding tickets?:-laf

Hey lmills, you've come a long way since 2003, haven't you?

[I guess I was feeling nostalgic when I saw this thread. How about an update on where you are now?]

Also curious why Van Aaken wasn't on your poll. I have tried their C3. 2 box and loved it. I really liked the fact that it doesn't increase fuel rail pressures. Been seriously considering one for a while now. I have heard that a C3. 2 box with a Rokktech crank sensor works very well.

OMG talk about resurrecting one. LOL I just stumbled across this while looking for a post on the marine valve cover. :D Yes, it has came a long way since then. :-laf
