My advice... be careful of the Cheesehead beer;) but it really is good stuff! Have a safe trip Aaron!

If you go see the Alamo, go see the IMAX movie about the Alamo 1st as it makes a big difference when you go through the Alamo. Its quit interesting and a big part of western history.

By the way....

The alamo has no basement. Also, if you lean out of a phone booth and sing "the stars at night shine big and bright" everyone around you does not clap three times and sing "Deep in the heart of Texas". :D :D

Just in case you saw that movie.

We tried that last year. All we got was a stupid / confused look. I guess everyone hasn't seen that movie. :D

Well, the wife and I hit a snag last night. I told her I was going to make reservations today for the camper in SA (Hill Country RV resort). Well, she asked if it was near the beach. I said, "No. But it's not that far from it. " Her reply was that we needed to be near the beach. She wants to spend as much time as she can on the beach. I asked if a lake beach would be close enough. She said, "No. It must be a beach on the ocean. " I asked if an all-day trip to the beach would be okay. She said, "No. We must be able to get there every day". O 'FER CRYIN OUT LOUD!!! She's h*ll-bent on screwing up the plans I make again this year! Somehow I think I should trade the truck in for the Wagonqueen family truckster. GRRRRRRR!!!!!

More ideas!!! I need more ideas. I still want SA, but the trip will be miserable if I don't appease the missus. I think you guys will understand. Help me any way you can. Thanks.

The beach water temperature at Galveston this morning is 52 degF. The air temperature is supposed to be in the low 30's there tonight. Hey, she's your wife, but we don't go to the beach in January.

Edit: Of course, that may be because I was born "on" Galveston - down here, that makes me "BOI", or "born on the island" - AKA an "island rat. "

I guess if you must, I'd look at Corpus or farther south (Padre Island, etc. ), although that's often pretty crowded with snowbirds.

Dont expect warm water in South Padre. Highs are in the 60's this week, and it might even freeze down here. You can always watch the waves, but that is about it. Go to SA, and come back in the spring.

We're leaving on Sunday.

Well, we're going to be on our way Sunday. We should get there sometime Monday around dinner time. But we'll be too tired to do crap for sure.

First day will be on the beach of No. Padre Island. North beach as it's called. This will give my wife her beach fix. Then Tuesday evening it's off to Fredricksburg. We'll be hitting the touristy stuff in San Antonio, so if any of you are close enough and want to drop by...

Friday, we will be heading to Dallas to visit a friend (and see some snow). Saturday, we will start the long trip home.

Those of you who are listed in the Travel Companion, be prepared. You just never know when a phone call from me might just make your day. Or not.

If some of you are interested in getting together, I will have my phone with me. I'm listed in the travel companion in WI for Holmen. I will also be checking my emails, -- email address removed -- , from my phone.

Thanks for all the help gang. This trip is gonna be a blast.

We made it.

Actually, we stayed on South Beach on the National Seashore parkground Monday night. Caught the Lexington tuesday afternoon. Pretty cool. We're staying in Fredricksburg at the KOA. So if anyone wants to stop by, be my guest. We are going to hit San Antonio tomorrow for the day. But today is an easy day and one of recovery. FMS did something I wasn't expecting and got me worried. Did you know that the temp limiter on the FMS works even when you aren't enhacing the fueling? I didn't. Scared me to death. Thought I toasted the BIG pump. Lemme see, popped the pot. water hose, cracked the grey water drain line, Jordan brake controller went TU, and the 500 HP I have under the hood has been slowly separating the camper from the frame. I tell ya, I've had better trips.

If you guys have any ideas for more stuff, let me know. Or you might catch me on a cell tower. (608)304-0399.

Thanks Nowell and Piers for the help with my FMS and fueling problems. It's comforting to know that your guys' advice is only a phone call away.

Thanks for the tips. See ya'll :)

Got home.

Well, with much sadness, we got home. The trip was a blast. Thanks to all of you that helped make this trip a huge success from your suggestions and advice.

Special thanks to charlan for helping us with directions and meeting us for dinner. It was great to meet you and we will probably want to hook up with you again next year.

Also, to that fella in Weatherford, who's name I couldn't hear, we tried to find you after we left my buddy's house. But I didn't find you. Drop me a note. I'd like to catch up with you some time. We will probably be making an annual pilgimmage to that place. So hooking up with you is not out of the question.

The trip back got cold quick and the truck was not digging it. I think I may either have a failing APPS or a dying VP-44. Got some troubleshooting to do. Not to mention, I had to switch back from the new PE4200 to the old stock Carter lift pump. But now the PE4200 sems to work okay. I dunno what's going on. But that's neither here or there.

The one thing I wanted to mention was that everyone seems to be very proud to be a Texan. Just something I noticed.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions. If you guys ever come this far north (for whatever reason), I'll put some brats on the grill, cool the cheese curds, and chill some Lienie's for ya. Have a good one.

Only 3 months till Muncie

Hey Aron, Muncie is only 3 months away. Are you gonna have the TT and truck ready to roll through Illinois?Oo. Oo. Sounds like you had a good time. We might plan on a TX vacation in the middle of Sept.

It was me, the Hillbilly Hotrodder. I was busy that day. I didn't get out of the fire station till 1 hr late, and I had lot's of lawns to mow that day. . Sorry, I would have liked to talk for awhile.

Aron. It was awesome hanging out with y'all for the few hours we had, and I apologize for that jackass in the parking lot who thought his Dmaxipad was all that... I will be looking for him when I get this 6 speed done. I will show him what his little truck is NOT capable of. maybe next year I can take a few days off, and kick around with y'all. . Just remember that you guys are always welcome down here too. Hey, did y'all make it to the 406 Chrome shop in Weatherford?? I ended up going over Saturday to get another gauge for mine, and I will get some pics for ya. Glad to hear y'all got home safely, and looking forward to seeing you soon!
