What can I add to my hx40 to make twins. I would like faster spool if possible and alot more air up top. My hx40 is not even close to what I need. :{

I have thought about water/meth, nos, propane. But twins seem to be the most realistic street setup.

what I'm doing:

taking my HX40-16w and putting an HX35 turbine wheel on it w/ a 14cm housing...

running a 38mm Tial external gate and hanging an HT3B off the 35/40 hybrid.

see my photo album for more info. :p

everything I have read says you will have slower spool up with twins. Anyone concur?

agreed, that's why you run a smaller turbine side on the top turbo to get it spinning quicker, and use a big external gate to spool the bottom turbo and give you that top end pull.

Spool up

I have driven back to back my '01 with PDR HX40, then an "02 with PDR HX40/HT3B twins. I really can't feel any difference in initial spool up. Both have the same air filter [AFE] and are running the same fuel box [drag comp] and similar injectors.

Leaving a stop light, or stop sign, I can't measure or percieve any difference in spool, but once under way, and making some boost, the twins will create much more boost under similar amounts of throttle compared to the single.

And most importantly, cruising down the road, the twins will create almost instant boost while the single has some lag.

The single charger truck can see over 1400* at will on the freeway during a 80-100mph blast, while the twins are hard to get over 1200*.

Twins are in my future!

How small are we talking? Using holset as an example?

Myself I run a ks-b1. Would this be a good canidate? for the top turbo?

Thanks,
