I had this same exact thing happen to my 01 truck about 2-3 yrs ago. Thought it was a really freak thing, and I really didn't notice it all untill the truck started to pull and make really funny noises when I hit the brakes. Was just as dumbfound as you probably were when I took the brakes apart. I had to replace the entire caliper, front brake lines, both rotors and all 4 pads. Then did a complete flush of the entire system with new synthetic fluid (got some really nasty colored stuff come out of the lines). Before I did the repairs I did notice that the brake line was kind of sucking in and completely collapsing when the pedal was released. Wonder if this was restricting the flow of fluid back to the master cylinder and preventing the piston from retracting. Could have been the cause of what happened, just a theory.
