I know, way over due, but it ran smooth.

Two things I noticed on my test drive. Way less smoke, even when trying to make some, and less max boost. I'm guessing that the old injectors were just dumping fuel in which caused smoke and faster spoolup? My biggest question is what do I do with the old ones? Are they of any value to me, or should I just toss them?

not really much value...

I was able to get 55psi from a sps62 with a raggedy set of 215 injectors in my last 98! that thing blue hazed at idle like no other!

What kind of injectors did you use? and was there any noticeable idle difference, as far as being smoother idling?

Those are a heckuva lot cleaner looking (from what I can tell from the blurry shot :p ) than mine were at 355k. They had so much on the tips the globs were as fat as the entire end of the injector. The fuel was channeling through tiny holes about 2mm of deposits long

They are 215s from PDR. I don't see much difference at idle, rpm is the same. I am hoping to see a difference in mileage when I do a test drive to California on Sunday. Sorry about the blur. New camera, and bad lighting. I think it says a lot about needing additives... ... . I don't use any. All the holes in all the injectors were open, and carbon build-up was about the same on all of them.

So what do I do with the old ones?

have them checked out and sell them. i honestly would just place an add and see if someone wants them. maybe sell them for like 75 bucks or something cheap.

I am looking for some 12v cores. . if you want to get rid of your old ones?. . i can work out something with ya let me know

thanks

Deo

I replaced the ones in my Kenworth at a half million miles, they were clean but the holes were actually enlarged from the friction of all that fuel going thru them. Fuel mileage got better, but power went down.

i kept my crappy 160hp injectors when i got my 330s so ill have cores incase i buy something better that requires a core return

Not to bring back an old thread, but what kind of mileage increase did you see? Did the combustion knock change pitch or sound better with the new injectors?

The most noticeable change is a loss of power. There is also less smoke when pulling a load. I haven't been able to check empty mileage, but after pulling 6 different types of trailers I'm not sure my mileage has increased. There may be a slight difference in combustion clatter, but not much. If I get unlucky and have to deadhead a long way to somewhere I'll be sure to post what, if any, mileage increase I get.

Hey Gary, I am running those sticks also. You talk of lower power, how about your boost. Did you lose any? I am very pleased, course in comparison I am low mileage. Putt-putting around here I am still around 18mpg.

Sorry for the long delay Smitty, computer crash. My string of trailers came to an end in SoCal, so I came home. Empty mileage has gone back up to a little over 20 mpg driving 70. 346 miles from Eloy, Az to Anthony, Tx on 17. 1 gallons. Max boost is way down. The best I could get was 26, used to get 31 or so. The increase in mileage is worth it though. I still spent 2 grand on fuel in a little less than 3 weeks.

Did you notice if it started better or ran smoother when cold after the injector change?

Starting is the same, hot or cold, but it does seem to be a bit smoother going down the highway. The coldest temp I started up at was about 26f.
