I ran a straight pipe exhaust on my 89. She had a nice roar on the highway entrance ramps. Was always funny watching the neighbors run out with their garage cans thinking I was the garbage man running early.. Flash forward I really like how quiet my 13 is. I can listen to the radio in the car next to me at the light over this new engine. With my windows up. I must be getting old… Lol

NOT probably! They were, which include the injection noise of the VP-44 and injectors firing! And the 2002 and some 2001.5 did you get the under hood insulation.

Hood Blanket? Of course! but that's not for noise.

It is there to keep the orchestra warm on cool nights. Then they are ready to create that symphony of sound early in the morning. Twenty-one years and I have never had any of my neighbors complain about it. Nor have they complained about the horn blowing 3 times when I unlock the door after it has been parked for 3 or more days. But, then again, I think that I have been too busy, since I retired, to fix that. Then there is the Mustang. A bit on the loud side there, too.

I think that in my neighborhood that we all have little things that we do to annoy one another, and we are wise enough to not complain. Otherwise, I would unleash GWAR and Rob Zombie on them while I am doing my yard work and relaxing on the porch with an adult beverage. God, how I love them all.

98-02 we're probably the loudest truck ever!
A wonder that they have been street legal with that dB level.
My 98 had a 4" turbo back exhaust, with straight through muffler, and sounded mean. I drove it a short distance once with just the downpipe, and holy hell it sounded angry.

My 2016 sounds downright docile in comparison, but it is a thousand percent better in all areas...and even in fuel mileage.

Yep didn’t need no stinking warranty Back then there was a lot of talk what did and did not void your warranty as we remember. There was the fence sitters of course. Then like me I jumped (or fell off early in to the abyss bombed others tougher it out and kept their warranty I spent a lot of money doing it

Local dealer here has a terrible reputation. They were bought out by the Chevy dealer recently.
Hopefully things will change. My buying experience was less than ideal. With the fuel system expensive and possibly problematic I’ll tread lightly as to not give them ammunition to void my warranty.

Old 99 didn’t have the power of the 22 and didn’t stop good either. Adding a 100 horsepower and the transmission to hold it and x brake was very much needed but to mess with this new truck would be a mistake. But I still can look right. Bone stock
Lousy brakes on my 98.5 2500 auto. A extra piston in the front caliper wouldn't have cost much.
