Ok so I was driving and truck seemed fine. Then next time I go through the gears, I hit fifth let clutch out, give it gas and it just revs up like I missed the gear. So I go to put it back in fifth and nothing! It wont go into fifth gear at all!!?#@$%!

So my question is, did fifth gear go out, or did the shift fork come out of wack or get stuck or something? I saw other guys saying when they lost fifth it would go in gear, just it didnt do anything? Thats why I was thinking maybe something else?

All other gears seem to be fine. Clutch is fine.

Please help guys. Anything is appriciated!!

Thanks, Travis

I believe when fifth gear is lost, normally the gear on the output shaft comes loose and moves toward the rear so the gears no longer mesh, it should not keep the shifter from going into 5th position. bg

If shifter lever goes all the way up in 5th gear position, then it would be your 5th gear nut loosening up and letting 5th gear fall back out of position. If this is the case, I would recommend a full spline main shaft with the new nut.
If lever doesn't go up into 5th gear position, then it would be something internal such as shifter fork broken, synchronizer broken, etc. .
If I were you, I would put my fuel plates back in because I bought one without a fuel plate, and ended up replacing the engine due to #1 cylinder being scored from over-fueling and washing down cylinders. If you want more fuel, put a different fuel plate back in.
