With the help of a fellow TDR member I think I narrowed the problem down to the lift pump. When we removed the line into the injector pump and turn the motor over, nothing would come out, and I couldn't get anything out of any of the injector lines. This is not the original pump. The first one got 70,000 miles and this one has only 30,000. I ordered a new one from Jeg's today and will have it in the morning. If that doesn't solve my problem, it's back to the drawing board.

Thanks to all that responded here and sent e-mails in support during my time of need #ad

Jeff, did you get your truck running? Hope so, it'll feel good to have her moving under her own power again!

now you are on to some thing Jeff #ad

glad that you did not call the phord dealer.
i think that it will work now. might as well give some thought to the idea of having a pump near the tank as Chris and Mopar Muscle have done.

It was cured for about 12 hours. Now it loses prime when I shut it off. I need to go back and check all my lines to make sure everything is tight. I haven't spoted a leak. It's getting air somewhere.

I checked all the lines. Everything is as it should be. Truck still loses prime. I can't figure it out. It's parked in the garage again until I figure out where it's getting air from.

no , no anti siphon valve .

jeff which pump did you order , and how did you connect it to the stock fuel line ? i have spent a considerable amount of time on the stock fuel system and should be able to get you going , email me if you want and we can talk on the phone .

Mopar Muscle, no stock fuel lines. JRE 1/2" supply line from the tank to the lift pump and -06 braided line from there forward. The truck ran great for 12 hours and now no prime. I need to look at the supply line and see if has a split in it.

MikeR, we tested the overflow valve following procedures in the manual before I installed the new lift pump. It was working fine then. Would it cause the truck to lose prime after being shut off if it was stuck open?

The truck loses prime immediately after shut down. Once I get it started, if I shut it down and within 1-2 seconds try to start it again, nothing. I have to go through the priming process again. Once it's started, it runs fine.

Jeff:

I don't think your overflow valve is sticking. Overflow valves usual do act as a one way "check valve", until its pop-off psi (14 psi or so). . They will however allow a certain amount of bleed down or pressure drop unless the engine is running. That's what fuel psi guages show any way.

You might remove the overflow valve and attach the end to a might-vac or other vacuum pump and see if you can pull a vacuum. My guess is that the steel check ball will not completely seal off. .

You might very well have a split line or a "crimped" connection on one of your "custom" lines that pulls air intermittantly.

Also check out the pick up from the tank to the lift pump.

Good luck,

Andy
