I have been carefully watching the dipstick and the oil appears to be getting deeper. After about 6000 miles on the oil I added about a quart of oil, the level has been holding steady for the last 4000 miles or so. It appears to be smoking more than usual. I think they are on their way out. If I let the lift pump run a few seconds before I crank it, the engine seems to pop right off. If I just get in and crank it, it takes more time to fire and then when it does start it puffs a small cloud. When on the stock edge setting, it throws some smoke when accelerating.

I could have the injectors tested but the local shop charges $30 a stick and I can't send them off for testing because I don't have a backup vehicle currently. Is there some other method of verifying if they are going out?

I was considering the Industrial Injection dragonfly 60's. Are they new Bosch injectors with tips? Will I need pump modifications to run them? Will the stock turbo run with those injectors or would I have to upgrade immediately?

What special tools would I need to do the job myself?

Cylinder contribution test and return flow test might help verify which ones are going.

You have all the symptoms of injector problems, but, it may not be all of them.

If you want to replace all of them then a set is the way to go. Check with II to see if they have any new injectors, you might only be getting remans at this point.

The 60 HP nozzles should not require any other upgrades to function correctly.

How many Mile on the Truck? ... its a waste of Time and Money testing out of the host

If I thought that Injector testing on known bad units would benefit the owner I would BUY the most advance Machine Made... Yes testing for balance rate when changing form Factory to high flow is necessary to shim correctly... or when R/R.

Contribution test=Contributing to the Company Bank Account in most cases.

Yes You can run the 60s on factory Pump... Unplug FCA when running (BE-CAREFUL) it will knock and ramp up... ... . Then Plug FCA back in and count how Many seconds it takes to recover and Report Back... the next coarse of action is to be how long it takes to recover. .
