I think the COLD has damaged my CD player

Among other rattles, noises, vibrations, ect. , i think the very cold snap we have been in lately, 1-15 degrees, have temporarily made my CD player inoperable. I noticed the other day that very small bumps and potholes, which normally would not ever affect the sound quality, caused several second delays in the music. Today on the way to work, about 10 degrees or so, - it did not work at all, and in fact, gave me an "error" message on the display. Wondering if any one else has seen this in their trucks also. I also have many noticeable vibrations, clunks and rattles that were never there until we got into the freezer several weeks ago. Any ideas?

Mine has been in frequent -20 to -30 temps since almost new (bought it with 18k). I've never had a problem with the stereo, CD, etc. Can't say the same for the XM. Somewhere below -20 or so the display freezes. Still receives a signal, but it's a crap shoot as to what channel is playing.

Mine and my buddys 04's CD ended of being replaced on warranty during the first year. The symptoms you described were the same as ours when they started to go.

The extreme cold can cause the laser lens to fog up. Happened all the time to me in Nebraska. When the car warms up, the problem goes away.

I just got the error today was about 10 degrees out, and truck was warmed up. Now the thing will not go the the cd mode just am and fm, I concerned now, especially since my truck is just a month out of warranty.

I've got 3 trucks and a Jeep with the same system..... I've had each of the vehicles overnight in single digits with no problems... .

Mine displayed the exact same symptoms. Once it warmed up a bit, the problems went away.

When you crank your truck to let it warm up, put the heat on the "vent" setting, where it comes out the "face" vents. They pass right by the stereo and help warm it. Mine acts up when it is cold and humid. Don't play a disk until air is warm coming from the vents. Mine acts up when cold sometimes, but has had the HELL played out of it with no real problem other than that.
