Boyd Coddington Passed Away At Age 63

6.7 with a 5.9 head

I put a new injection pump in the truck, (I kept the key in the pump shaft pointing up like I was told to do), and I can see now that the old pump was not putting out enough fuel. I put the new pump in and started it after getting fuel to the pump and it ran real rough. I had to keep it at a high idle to get it to stay running and I tried to bleed of the injectors while running. It seemed to get a little better but it still won't idle, sounds like it's missing and alot of white smoke. What did I do? Oh yeah, It's a first gen motor.

Does it clatter real bad like advanced timing or is it quiet. It sounds like timing is off one tooth. Those pumps are very simple to work on and not hard to figger out. There is a possibility that the timing advance piston is stuck in the advance position.

Timing is off. Check fuel pres. just to be on safe side. Tooth shouldn't be off if you didn't pull the front cover and gear. Probably just forced the half moon key in the wrong spot. Its got to go in just perfect. Also when i through in a new pump i push the top of the pump almost all the way close to the head of the motor.
