My wife and I, about four years ago moved into a home that uses a wood burning furnace to heat with(I would recommend this to anyone, but thats another story). about the same time her parents moved down into the foothills of Missouri. we quickly found that firewood was abundant and CHEAP, down in them thar hills. we have been hauling firewood for four years now and with three different trucks. on the way back home we usually have between 4000 and 6000lbs of wood with us in the truck and on the trailer. This past January we ran out of wood and had to make a trip down to get just a truck bed full. this was the first trip with the new truck and it was still a virgin to wood hauling.

There is a hill on 63 about 15 miles south of Rolla Mo. I call it "The Lunch Eater" it is a big hill about 2 miles long and progressively steeper as you get to the top, along with a small bend in the middle. Back in January, with the new truck (Stock except for exhaust and K&N) and a 1200lb bundle of wood, I had to go down to 4th gear to top "The Lunch Eater". Since January I have put on a Powermax3 adj, Bully dog step 4 injectors and a Carter pusher pump. Just this past weekend we went down on one of our bi-annual trips for a load. we got loaded and weighed out at 4800lbs tare. on Sunday we headed for home in the late morning. it was already about 90 degrees and getting hotter. a few hours into the trip here comes "The Eater" you can see it about a mile or so ahead, as you come down the near side of it. I told my wife this was it, time to see if my time and money were worth it. With the PM on level 4, we hit the base at 72MPH. Up comes the boost. Imediately followed by the EGT's climbing to about 900F, we round the corner at the middle, and pour on the fuel for the rest of it. up with some more boost, but it felt good, not that sinking feeling like before. We hit the top at 75MPH @29PSI and 1075F with throttle to play with. I actually sped up as if to say "in your face, and let that be a lesson to ya" to the big bully. :D

"and I'll take that back now, too" :D

Did you happen to blow by any powerjokes or duramaxipads during this climb? This is where it is a real pleasure showing them how much better the power is with a Cummins.

I'm not into drag racing my Ram, but nothing I like better than doing what you just did! The feeling of being able to accelerate with a load, going up hill... I can only think of one that is better!

I know what you mean anyone from WA. state that has pulled a heavy load from Vantage to Geogre east bound on I-90 can relate to this 19,000 GCVW 70 mph wife asking what BIG GRIN on my face was all about.

Charles, that road is just a two lane highway...

but I can assure you, once we hit the interstate there were plenty a spankings handed out, to whatever was beside me, at the base of a hill. :D

this, is what is so nice, about driving one of these trucks, everytime you go out, its nothing but a pleasure to drive. :D

I dreaded that hill everytime we went down there, if i got caught behind someone at the bottom, it was all over, but not now :D

Todd, dyno numbers are great, but..... there is nothing like conquering an old foe to bring out that mile wide smile and that feeling that you did something great to your truck :D. Congrats!
