I'd like to install a dead pedal for my left foot and I'm wondering if any of the fabricators on the site have created something like this.

For those who aren't sure what I'm talking about, a dead-pedal is a basically a foot rest for your left foot. This is typically found on manual transmission sports cars. It keeps your left foot resting at roughly the same angle as your right foot - so it is more comfortable that resting it on the flat floor. The pedal also serves to provide the driver with better feedback on the vehicle - this becomes very apparent on a race track.

Anyone out there seen something? It shouldn't be hard to make. Maybe stainless steel or aluminum with a rubber "shoe"?

I would love to get something like this. My left foot gets numb after driving an hour or so when I forget to move it around. This would solve that. Even though I have an auto...

when i drove a truck we used to put something like what your talking about. It was made by a company called rolling rest. i used to get mine at truck wash behind 76 tk stop in Little Rock.

might be a little hard to rest your foot there with the parking brake pedal above it also...

but interesting and if i could be made to work, i'd be interested in seeing how [so i could maybe fab up my own... ]

Thanks for the replies... . I think the closest I saw on all of these links was something I saw on ebay that was made for the Ford Focus SVT. It looks sturdy, but I'm not sure what's behind the kick panel on our trucks... May a "copy" of this design for our truck would work.

heres a link to that one: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7945722065&category=33700

Nick, I think it should work fine with the emergency brake pedal since the brake pedal doesn't go down enough to come close to where your foot rests (if it does, the brake cable needs some serious adjustment!)

RockJeep, that TJ one you mention is a little "agressive" for my needs - and its made for an auto - so it looks like it would interfere with the clutch foot. BTW I had an awesome '00TJ with Dana60's, ARBs, 4. 88's on 35's. It was a point and go rig - almost too easy sometimes!

My wife's Volvo S40 has a perfect dead pedal - very comfortable and unobtrusive.
