I have installed several AFE stage 2 kits on customers trucks and they all say that the turbo whistle was awesome. The kit with the lid is alittle more pronounced than the one that uses the hood as the top. Also get the new Pro Dry-S filter, its an oil-less filter, this is sold as a Pro Dry-S stage 2 kit, everyone I've sold one too really likes them. Olied filters SUCK! Good Luck.

i just don t know why you would be able to hear the whistle more just by changing the air filters ? can someone explain ? i don t want to go blow $$$ to find out its not any louder than what i have already ,

Probably has to do with the greater volume of air allowed in by the Stage 2. The filter is like a big cylindrical donut, allowing air in all around the filter. Go to ther AFE website.

It's just like exhaust-- Go from a 3 1/2" or 4" to a 6" stack and you'll hear a difference. I'm guessing with an intake, the smaller size pipe has a higher velocity so it's more difficult for the sound to escape.

Not sure what the AFE kit costs, but I'm betting I saved some $$$ and get the same effect. Six inch intake piping looks HUGE and the sound is awesome.

Mucho Whistle Mod

First remove the windshield wipers, then remove the vent cover. On the passenger side of the windshield above the air box you remove a little bit (1-4")of the windshield adhesive and you will have more turbo whistle for you to hear then any other way. How I know - The tech that replaced my glass left about a two inch area with no sealant. The whistle was louder then the radio. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/ubb/bounce.gif

Oo.

I went from a K&N filter to an Amsoil Nanofiber in the stock airbox in my 98. 5. The K&N whistled perfectly, but with the Amsoil I have no whistle at all. It's disappointing. I don't understand why I get less whistle with a filter that supposedly flows better.
