2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission I was afraid of that

Well, I researched the archives and found out that the heater core replacemant is a real labor and time intensive pain in the wahzoo! I was wondering if someone found an easier way to accomplish this task that was not as tough a job. Like maybe a hidden zipper somewhere?

Any input appreciated.

If you don't have a Dodge service manual this is the time to get one. I just looked in mine and the job is a big hairy deal.

I recall some threads on this with some good pics as I recall. Looks like an all day job for sure. Anyone got a bead on those threads?

I had a heater core go out on my 1999 1500 and I believe I paid about $900 at the dealer and had it back in about a day and a half. The whole dash does need to come out. Definitly a two guy job. Also replaced the floor carpeting because my core virtually exploded the coloant line all over the place. If you are getting ready to replace yours be sure and get that carpet shampooed a. s. a. p.

When I worked for the local dealer I had to replace one:{ MAJOR PITA. The whole dash has to come out and the whole box that houses the core, the a/c condenser and the blower motor has to come out, yes you also have to recover the a/c system.
