I have been reading all your threads about the transmission problems... delivery problems... I have talked to two dealers and I think they dont know or wont say whats going on... both said "no problem bud ... order it" Yea right... . tdr educated me

I wrote dodge a nice long letter about wanting to special order a new 3500 Q/C, stick, cummins 4 x 4 and am waiting for a reply;;;;

Just what do you think they will say..... Oo.

and when will this BS be over///

What transmission are they trying to stick in the trucks for the people still ordering them? A gas one... ??? what transmission is that?

As an aside I was going to use costco buying service for the truck... I am not even going to deal with the hassle of a salesman

Thanks for your comments and keeping me from making a real expensive bo- bo I might be real unhappy with

If your a AAA member check with their Auto / truck buyers service for a cost.

I have used AAA the last two times and it's great Oo. My present rig, an 2001 listed out retail @ $42,850 and My cost was $35,000 plus a $2,000 factory rebait. That $2m rebate paid all my sales taxes. ;) ;)

AAA gets price quotes from the Fleet Managers at 3-4 dealers to do this.

The Fleet Managers don't BS around, they give AAA their best shot right off the batt. :D

Hope this helps you out and you get a good price. :)

I think that you'll find the best pricing on a new truck at either Dishman (Spokane WA)or Dave Smith (Kellogg ID)... both are offering trucks 1000 back of invoice plus any rebates you qualify for as well as the farm bureau rebate of 500...

I've not seen anyone get a much better deal than this... . Both of the dealers mentioned above have good phone, and internet staff to help... . I've bought from both... . and currently like a young man at Dishman... . Rob Crosswhite his name... . Just mention the TDR to either dealer... they'll hook you up... they know what they have to do...

You can do a lot better than Costco. Their "deals" aren't that good. I've tried them before and I've always ended up haggling my own prices and saved a few thousand bucks. A few days haggling for a couple thousand bucks is pretty good wages where I come from.

I know about these dealers... thanks for the tip!!!

One problem we have here in california is that if we buy out of state in a state that taxes then we get double dipped..... we pay full bore sales taxes in cali when we try to bring it in,,, no way around an oppressive dmv here... . you can try getting an out of state address but thats a huge hassle (insurance dmv and license)

Where I live... close to the Oregon border just having an oregon plate gets chps attention..... I know ... I wrote many citations

Anyone have an idea what stick dodge would try to send a truck through with? Or will they just hold up builds indefinately until they resolve the g56 issue??? anyone have a crystal ball?

Yes... I know costco may not be the best deal... Ill look at AAA... . then Ill price them out of state

Hmmm... . that's strange. When we moved from Ohio back to Texas in 1997, Texas nailed me on a 1996 Ram 3500 we had purchased in Ohio that was less than 1 year old, but all I had to pay was the difference between Ohio sales tax and Texas sales tax that would have been charged in the county of registration (Harris) had I bought the vehicle in Texas.

Any decent dealer ought to be able to license the truck in Cali no matter where you buy it. I bought a Mercedes in Newport Beach CA and had it registered in MN, and I bought a Porsche in MN and had it licensed in CO because we were moving here. They just contact the dmv where you live, get the numbers and send you off with the appropriate tags. I think I would contact "Tommygun" here on the forum. He is in MO but everybody that buys from him seems impressed. He also usually knows the skinny on issues like the transmission.

I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Tommeygun. He doesn't know anything about why this is going on. I'm sure he's not too happy that he is about to lose a sale because of it, either.

At first he accused me of, "Believing everything I read on the TDR"

So, I suggested he figure out where my truck was.

Answer was about an hour's ride on the car hauler from the railyard, and on, "Hold. "

Thank You for the Tomeygun referral... I have checked him out

I had a nice chat today with "Shannon" from DC in their customer service center... . of course as expected I got very polite corporate speak..... she did go on to tell me that she would do some more investigation into this and would give me a call in the future...

My letter to DC is now winding its way into the system... I dont expect much more than what I got on the telephone

"Please contact a dealer for the most up to date information"..... yes,,, but Maam the dealers are clueless.....

I might as well have been talking to Barbie.....

but you all warned me... ...

I look into the CA DMV a little more tomorow...

thanks

CMoonie,

In Jan/Feb '04 when I checked, Costco was $500 over invoice. Butch at Dishman (mention BigBob) was $1000 under but at that time couldn't get a CARB truck. We found a deal in Eugene, Ore. for $1000 under but I found a deal locally for $650 under and bought there. If you buy out of state, make sure you get a CARB truck and pay CA tax and registration. The above contacts know how to do it. I think you get a temporary permit and the register with CA DMV when you get home.

I have stayed away from posting about the transmission issue, But the truth is no one knows for sure why the G56s are on hold - I DO know that an internal quality control team is who put the hold into effect - at this time Dodge corporate will not release further info until the problem is resolved and that can make a statement about why/how/etc

It is a crumby situation when a customer can not take delivery of thier truck... BUT EVEN WORSE if they let the customer take home a truck that the maker SUSPECTS has a problem (serious or not)...

If you know so much about who and why my truck is on hold you should have had the decency to call me, I've been trying to find out nonstop for the last three days.

Your 2nd paragraph is hogwash. You've got 7 trucks on the lot right now with G-56s, all of which if I showed up with cash I could purchase right on the spot and leave with one today. If there was a serious issue there would be a do not sell on them, which is exactly what happened when the Dakota and Durango had rear axle problems recently, per your boss.

If they'll let me take one off the lot, they should deliver the trucks that are in the rails.

Dodge needs to stop making excuses and produce the product, or they need to produce my refund I was promised on Wednesday.

Thanks Tomeygun,

Some info is better then no info. Please keep us updated as you hear or learn more. It is much appreciated.

I emailed and left a ph message with DC on the 21st I am still waiting for a response I won't hold my breath. I beleive when you buy a truck or car in most states if you live in Ca. thay state doesn't charge you sales tax But you do pay sales tax @ the DMV when you return to Ca.
