ALL you'll get from DC is a PR grease job - long on corporate double talk, and VERY short on actual, useful facts...

Absolutely right. We already know more than they would like and unfortunately DC only tells the dealers what they want the customer to know.

CMooney, to answer your original question, there is no other manual transmission capable of duty behind the Cummins in DC's inventory; ergo, no other transmission will be substituted and the hold will persist on all G56 trucks that have been ordered until DC decides what it is going to do about the mysterious "problem".

Tim, just a suggestion, but go easy on Tomeygun. I would imagine that he has been reticent to post anything on the issue because he doesn't know anything more than we do. Remember the decision to hold your truck was made by DC and is out of his (or any dealer's) control. Although I've never met him personally, I have gleaned enough from his postings (and others who've dealt with him) to be comfortable with his integrity. I suspect Tomeygun has been beating the bushes trying to get answers but hasn't had any more luck than those in this thread who have tried.

Cheers,

Dave

Trust me, I dont get paid until the truck is over the curb buring diesel...

SOooo, I agree, Dodge should ship those trucks, But they tend not to listen to me :-laf

Then find someone that will. Just keep calling until you find someone that will talk. If you won't, give me the numbers, I will gladly do it myself. I really don't want to walk away from my truck, Tom, but if I have to, I will.

I don't know what Tim wants Tommy to do. It's hard to just ***** out a truck and make it all better. If I was Tim I would simply cancel the order and get my money back. Trucks are great, but damn there are other things in life like family, food, fun, etc. etc. It is sad to see people so upset about any vehicle or other material things. And to think there are people in other parts of the world worrried about living to see the next day. We are one spoiled group of people in this country... . But I wouldn't live anywhere else.

For what it's worth, I had a friend at the dealership do some research on this. He called me back to say that DC has switched vendors on this transmission, and he thinks the G56 has been dropped  . The new one is made by a company called Ieson (sp). This could be the biggest BS ever posted, but I just wanted to relay what I was told. I feel sorry for all you guys that are having trouble with this, but getting obsessive about it isn't going to do any good. Look at the obvious, even the dealers are clueless so it's obvious that it is a closely guarded secret. Going off on a salesman is not going to get anything solved. If DC has put them on hold with no explanation, even when asked- how is a salesman going to solve this problem  ... Chilllll. .

Amen to your post QWaller, I have a 04 that has the vibe problem, 4th [and likely final] trip to the dealer on Monday, then buyback.

I like the Dodge driveline, but I have to say the overall quality and robustness of this 3rd Gen is less than the 2nd Gen. Take a good look at the interior materials, paint quality and the frame. The frame is very thin compared to 2nd Gen, or Fords, and has cracking problems. Give those frames 5-7 years in the Northeast and Midwest with salt and snow, we will see more failures... .

But, it is just a truck, I bought an 05 F250 6. 0 L to replace the DOdge... . My next Dodge will be a 1st gen with a 12v - all mechanical... .

Tom has had numerous oppertunities to sell me a different truck, but he wouldn't make me a deal on any truck except the one I ordered. Since it can't be delivered and I can't even buy a 2nd truck for what I was going to pay for the first one, my hands are tied.

This isn't about material things at all. I've been planning the trip that I want to go on next week for months and months. If I don't get a truck that is capable of pulling my trailer by then, I can't go, I have to cancel everything. Tom assured me my truck would be there and I trusted him. He told me by April 1st no problem. April 1st is here... . no truck, and no answer to when there is going to be a truck. If I had something to get me past this trip it'd be a different story, but I don't. I don't even have time to fix my other 1 ton truck now, because I trusted Tom that my truck would be there, and I don't want to fix my other 1 ton anyway (it was set to go to the junkyard when my Dodge gets here).

This sucks for both of us, trust me. It's not about bling-blinging it in a new truck. It's about the fact I want to go on the trip I planned months ago, and now it's looking like I won't be able to go.

And as to canceling my order--I had planned on doing just that when Tom called me back yesterday--and unfortunately he never called me back.

Have you asked the dealer if they will give you a loaner?? The dealership here will do it if needed. I had a problem with the paint on mine when I bought it, and they could have given me a sebring or something but they gave me a brand new CTD to drive for 3 days while my paint was fixed.

I feel your pain, but geeez! Your problem seems to be with DC, not your salesman. I don't see the point in dragging his name around here, because what can he do?? Judging by the comments you are making around here, I'd avoid your phone calls too if I were him. It's not like these are Ferraris, I bet you could find the exact truck you are looking for on a lot within a few hours drive of where you live. There are probably 150 CTD on the lots within an hour drive from here.

I think Coolslice's friend ment the new transmission will be coming from a company called EATON not Ieson :D "I'll take a 7-speed thankyou" Oo.

Tim ... look into renting an RV or renting a pickup for the time being ... just a thought. Renting could give you insite into what another truck would be like ... hate to say it.

They're not going to like me putting a brake controller in and pulling a 10,000 lb trailer on a 2,000 with a new truck that they loaned me, I don't think. If they would, I wouldn't care, I'd wait indefinitely for my truck if I had something to pull my trailer that was 4wd and capable of pulling it, but I do not, and I don't anticipate them giving me a new truck to drive until they can produce MY new truck, and I wouldn't expect them to.

I feel your pain, but geeez! Your problem seems to be with DC, not your salesman. I don't see the point in dragging his name around here, because what can he do??

Two reasons:

#1, his nonchalant attitude. When you have a problem and a customer service complaint the last thing you want is someone casually responding to what you say as if it doesn't matter. I was slighly concerned about this when I called but nothing set me ablaze like Tom did on Wednesday when he basically told me with his tone that he doesn't care if it ever gets there.

#2, the salesman, and the dealership, represents their supplier. I have my own business, too. I sell all the cool truck parts and accessories that y'all enjoy putting on your trucks (tires, wheels, suspension, gears/diff parts, some diesel stuff, etc. ). If my suppliers up and I can't get the parts I need to complete your order, the last thing I do is blame it on them. I accept responsibilty because it is MY business you ordered from, not anybody elses. Excuses will get you nothing and nowhere with customers, and the true test of customer service is when there IS a problem. Some businesses are only there when it's easy. You ask for a widget, they produce said widget immediately, you pay them, and they deliver the widget. If you want four widgets and they only have two, that is a problem, they deliver the two widgets and send you on your way. It's the guy that goes out of his way to produce two more widgets in an acceptable amount of time to deliver for the customer that gets my business. He might spend two hours getting two $5 widgets for you, but guess what... ... . when he delivers, he'll have a customer for life. It's hard to do this as a business owner, because sometimes it costs you money and oftentimes there is zero appreciation for your hard work to deliver for the customer, but such is life and it's part of doing business for yourself.

Judging by the comments you are making around here, I'd avoid your phone calls too if I were him. There are thousands of trucks in an 800 mile radius from my house. There are NONE like the one I ordered, and only ONE dark colored, QC, 4wd, shortbox, stick shift, Laramie trucks in that 800 mile radius. If there were trucks on lots that I could buy I would have never ordered from Tom in the first place. It wasn't about the $$$, it was that I'd read he had delivered good trucks and good service to TDR customers and he was more than happy to take my order for a CTD/6 speed truck.

Sounds like Tommy ought to go down to the rail yard and get Medievil on the yard hands ,maybe take a hostage or two, and hijack this truck. He can produce this widget somehow can't he?

My two 3rd gens have held up better than my 2nd gen did. Paint quality is the same (poor). The interior quality is the same (good). The frame is thinner, but it is boxed, hydroformed and stiffer. There are no cracking problems and this is heresay unless someone can produce ONE example. So far, no-one can. Rust MIGHT be more of an issue down the road, on the other hand there are millions of vehicles that have been produced without a frame at all (like my 1970 Super Bee). There are some issues that are more common with the 3rd gen trucks (just like there are with the 2nd gen trucks), but lets not create any new ones.

Dave

Ieson is a division of Diamler-Benz that makes the G56. Ieson was stamped in the ID plate on both of the G56 equipped trucks I looked at.

Tim,

Having been in your situation, I can sympathize with how you feel, but you’re starting to argue in circles. First you said, “Tom has had numerous oppertunities [sic] to sell me a different truck, but he wouldn't make me a deal on any truck except the one I ordered. Since it can't be delivered and I can't even buy a 2nd truck for what I was going to pay for the first one, my hands are tied. This isn't about material things at all. Now you are saying, “It wasn't about the $$$, it was that I'd read he had delivered good trucks and good service to TDR customers”.

You need to take that damn vacation if it kills you, and get away from this site. How many threads are you going to hijack to vent against a salesman that can’t help you?

As many as it takes until I get a truck, or I miss my trip and say the hell with it.

You can't take your trip unless you mhave your truck?!?!?! Go rent one, or borrow one, it's ridiculous that you count on a vehicle being there, when life happens. Go buy a ford or a chevy and spare us from your crybaby nonsense here, it's getting old, and you have become a complete boor.

As for Tommy, he sells truck for way less than the dealer I work at can, so I think he'll be fine, despite your incessant whining.

Yeah Baby. What they said. I was trying to bee too nice. Oo. __it happens. This is almost as goood as the Young and th Restless.

No. I can't.

My truck was built on February 7th. No reasonable person would expect that two months later it still won't be ready for delivery.

There is nowhere I know of where you can rent a truck to pull a 10,000 lb trailer. If there is, please let me know. Nobody I'm friends with that is willing to loan their truck to me has a truck capable of pulling my trailer, either. Without the trailer the entire trip is a waste of time.

Chevy doesn't even make a stick shift truck with leather, and if there was a Ford around here equipped like the Dodge I ordered, I'd have it tomorrow, but there isn't.

That may be the case but that doesn't change the facts pertaining to my case.

I see alot of words from you, but all I interpret is non-stop whining. Your life must be a miserable cesspool of sadness, I feel for your family.

Look Tim ... just go rent a RV for the vacation and leave your trailer at home. And probably when you get back your new truck will be in. Or at worse, you can get your $$$ back and go order something else. There are always ways around things. If you want to take the vacation there are options ... counting on one option only is rediculous (sp).
