Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) iat sensor

is there an iat sensor on the 1995 12 valve 5. 9L? if there is one where is it located?

Not sure about the '95. On the '98 it's on the driver's side at the top rear of the engine, close to the firewall.

Yes, it has one. It's in the intake cover.

That's weird! On a mechanically injected engine what does the ECU do with IAT sensor info? It can't adjust the A/F ratio or pull timing...

Intake heater control fer one thing.

Don't know if there are others or not... . :-laf

IAT readings control the grid heater cycles and on some pumps the timing advance.

And also the 24 valved engine needs this IAT cleaned more often, if you have a Exhaust brake. Keeping it clean helps in the milage department.
