My sons 96 has suddenly experienced really poor mileage and is putting out alot of black smoke. Do you think the Inlet Air Temperature sensor has gone T. U ? If so where is it located?

Doesn't have one if it's a 96.



I would check all the intercooler hoses for leaks.

The IAT on 12 valves only signals the grid heater operation in cold weather. Your problem sounds like a boost leak.
