Check engine light came on today coming home for lunch, power was way down. :( Drove it in the shop this afternoon and found the IAT sensor plug had become disconnected. This truck was in for a warranty LP earlier this month at a dealership that was, well, incompetent. #@$%! I have this suspicion that since the sensor is VERY CLOSE to the LP work area my dealerships wrencher may have broken the tab off the connector, looks like a fresh break. I plugged it back in a put a wire tie around it to hold for now. I’ve been doing some work to the truck too, but not in that area, just makes me wonder. The power levels are back to normal now :D but the light is still on. I guess my next purchase is going to be some software for my laptop. Is the light still on because a code was set and will I have to clear that code to get it off? Been wrenching since I was a youngster but not real familiar with the trucks computer stuff.

Check with your dealer to see if they have the connector repair boxes. They are three big blue boxes that DC sent to all dealers a few years ago. Some parts managers are not so bright and returned them. If the dealer has them, there should be a replacement connector available. Otherwise they have to be ordered, and it is very difficult to find the correct one without comparing it to the real thing. Good luck.

Your check engine light will go away after you start and stop the engine a few times over a few days of driveing.

I would take the truck back to the dealership and have them fix it, and clear the code set in the ECM. I would also make sure I had a work order from when they put on the new lift pump and broke the connector and another work order from when they put the new connector on. read the work order and make sure they say they were at fault or later on down the road someone could come back to you and say your warranty is denied because you must have altered the engine with some box that connects to the sensor. Some dealerships are good at overlooking such things and some dealerships will try and find anything to void your warranty. Protect your self. I know from experience on this one.

Thanks for that sag2. Just doing some more reading tonight and realized it was the MAP, the one just above the LP. I see now that the IAT is just behind that. I’m leraning I guess. Same difference as far as the connector goes, still needs fixed.
