I'm wondering if there is a way to tell what injector I have just by looking at them. I'm thinking about replacing them, since they keep coming out. Don't ask me how they come out but they do. They do when ever I drive more than 20 hours straight on the freeway. Also are the PODs the same for intercooled and non? if not then why are the hp ratings different? thanks, alonzo

Holly Cow,

Your doing something wrong. Are you torqueing the injector nut to 44lbs? The 89-91. 5 heads have a larger injector hole = 9mm and the 91. 6-93 have 7mm inj holes. The 89-91. 5 injectors flow more fuel then the 91. 6-93 inj so maybe this is were you are finding the hp rating difference? As far as the POD's they are good for 52rwhp with everything stock on a 91. 6-93 engine.

Yes I've been torqueing the injectors, I know they are the 9mm old style injectors. Maybe its just the vibration and driving so long straight. Already had it checked for a cracked head and that looked good.

I experienced this problem with 2 of my injectors, the problem turned out to be carbon buildup in the injector seat (in the head) and around the sealing washers. After I used a injector bore brush to clean the bores out and replaced the washers no more problem. Might be worth a look?
