Anyone have a spare piston sitting around out of a dodge/cummins motor? If I get my hands on one for CHEAP Im going to high polish it to a mirror finish... . it will end up a coffe table center piece or something of that sort! Maybe Im getting into this diesel addiction a little to far hahah... . nahhh!! :-laf

Thanks guys!

HA... . I ticked her off today!!! she has a ugly wreath on the wall... I took it down and hid it then put up the new TDR calender :-laf I went to work and got a nice text message once she got home... apparently if I didnt put it back up she would misplace some tools Eeekk!!!

It would be cool to bore out the center of the piston (bottom) and make a coaster out of it also... . I need to stop thinking!

Oh Geezz next he will want a Connecting Rod to hang on the Christmas tree !

Bet the wife would love that ! Hint Hint ;) ;)

You know what else makes good conversation pieces are turbine, compressor, and fan blades out of jet engines. I started collecting them. Ebay has a bunch. I have a 1. 75"x. 75" turbine blade on my truck key ring, two turbine blades 7"x1. 5" and a compressor blade out of a CFM-56, about 6"x2". Ebay had a fan blade from a 747 engine, 34" long :)

I had thought (pre kid on the way) about finding a piston of pretty decient size... to make the center single leg for a glass coffee table. I figured clean it up like your talking, run a small bead of clear silicone around the edge of the piston and it would keep the glass in place nicely... .

Swing by a Cat dealer out your way I believe its Ziegler and ask for a used cylinder pack from a 3500 series engine if you want big pieces. that is what I work on daily at the Mine Where I work. I'm sure they would let you haul out a load of em. ;)

That would be Awesome! I'll just have to find a truck to haul them with! (mine is down right now) I don't think my 87 Chevy Caprice will haul them very well! :-laf

Best part is... I work just off HWY 100, so I'm not far from them as I recall!

I have a mazda rotary engine rotor housing with the rotor in it made into a clock. It is a great conversation starter, and it looks very industrial/space agey.

I worked with a guy that took a defective turbine fan hub from a TDE-731 aircraft engine and cut it into quarters for bookends. A new non-defective fan hub cost is about $50k, and is solid Titanium.

Thanks BOB!!!!

well if the girlfriend doesnt like it she can move out... . Id be back on Ramen Noodles and cereal, hahah

Im going to start looking for misc. parts on ebay to set around the place ahha
