Lowering My 3500 Pros and Cons ? Whats the best 5th wheel ?

My friend and I, (I think) have closed a deal on two Oliver tractors in western Iowa. We need to get them hauled to Western NC. Any one on here do that kind of thing? What would that cost if there was a return load of lumber involved? Just wondering. They weigh about 13,500 each and our trailers are only rated for 14,000 so we're a little apprehensive about hauling them that distance with 3/4 ton trucks. Just looking for some ideas. Didn't know if any of you maybe drove a truck for a living. Did check with one trucking company in Portland Oregon. 1,500 dollars for the two. Don't know is that's cheap or expensive. Never had any hauling done before.

I'm not a hauling expert, but $1500 for 2 tractors seems pretty reasonable. Would probably cost 2 trucks about $600-700 for fuel round trip plus wear and tear, meals, motels, etc. I'd pay it before abusing my truck. Just my . 02

1500 bucks is not bad at all. I would jump on that deal and get your tractors in your possesion. I have paid as much as 5 k per load of logs for log homes that come from BC. so while the trip is longer it is not that much longer. Just my observation I may be missing something. good luck with your tractors

I paid nearly that much ($14??) to have one tractor hauled from Mississippi to Southern Missouri 4 years ago . About 700 miles . That was after pricing around.

Olivers?

Just curious. What kind of tractors are they?

My Dad used to work for Oliver a long, long time ago as a field service type. He has some real stories to tell.

Had to go to Cleveland for training. Down on Euclid Ave somewhere.

Olivers are the "other green" tractors

Hey 88,

Don't both of those have the Cat 3208 in them?I'm pretty sure the 2255 does. They are REAL tractors IMO:)

I have a 1755 gasser WF I bought about two years ago,got a Bush Hog loader and an 8' scraper blade for it. More tractor than what I needed but better to have more than not enough!

I'm planning on doing an engine rebuild sometime cause it uses oil.

good luck on getting them down there:)

The early 2255s had 3150 Cat engines the later ones had the 3208 Cat engine. The 2150 has a 6 cylinder hurcules engine. The 2255 has about 146 factory horsepower and the 2150 has about 138 factory horsepower.

Greg

P. S. The 2255 is more tractor than I need too.
