Ideas needed for solving the problem (update)
I had the timing on my truck (see sig) adjusted tonight to 16 deg. I also replaced the overflow valve. Nothing else was done that would affect performance.
The OV was replaced because it would break up at around 1800 rpm when free revving every time. Now, it doesn't do it but every now and then, and it has moved up to about 2200 rpm when it does it.
Now, the truck seems peppier in 2nd and will rev to 3400, it seems to not want to rev past 3000 in 3rd, 4th is about 2800 rpm, and 5th will not go above 2700 rpm.
Boost will get up to 30 psi, and the egts at 2700 rpm in 5th are at 1000 deg.
It will not break the tires loose either, and from what I've been told, with the mods I have, it should break them loose in 2nd easily, even before the timing was bumped up.
The timing had slipped from the 13. 5 factory setting to about 12. 5. it was bumped up to 16.
I've also noticed that sometimes, it seem to take longer to drop rpm when not in gear. This may be due to the linkage recall not being done yet on this truck.
From reading on here, I had expected a noticeable increase in power from the timing being adjusted, but now, it almost seems I lost power, or have limited myself to about 75 mph in 5th.
Where should I look next ???? I know this truck should have more power than it does, but I am too new at this diesel thing to know what is holding it back.
