So if I have been following this correctly, all we really need is the $12. 00 ECM pin, in slot 20 and ground it , no clutch switch needed? That is how I read Andersonvilles post! If so excellent news. Thanks in advance. Brad

Boy, this has gotten all as clear as mud. One post says ECM, another says ECU,,, then someone discribes the pin location of pin 22 as 2nd row from left, 3rd pin down from the outside of plug B but a photo shows location of pin 20 and where pin 22 would be is not as the discription given in the earlier post... also, just where is the ECM/ECU located? A photo would really help out. I've looked on the firewall since a post vaguely hinted that it was the one closest to the firewall as opposed to the radiator. I'm also guessing that since there is a plug B on the ECM/ECU that there is also a plug A? Are the plugs labeled? If someone could kindly start from the beginning, and explain to someone who's not intuitive of the locations for anything under the hood of their new truck and could provide a diagram or photo of exactly what's what, (as opposed to a diagram of what looks to be the wrong plug and wrong pin marked) A diagram orienting the location of the plug as well as the specific pin 22 location would be a great help. I already have the feature activiated. Carson Dodge charged me $40,then refunded the money to me when it wouldn't work. If I can get this done to my truck, I'll head back there and show them what I had to do to get this activated so they can help out other Dodge owners out there. (I'll give 'em back the $40 too!)

SS, you can buy the pin at a Cummins shop, however I'm going to check this out on my rig tomorrow it's only about 6" long, and has a butt type connector on one end so trimming that off will make it shorter, hence maybe a problem to ground out. Andersonville got a longer one from a buddy for his success. but it was from an old harness. We'll see if this can be solved somehow.

Pac-Brake also has these pigtails. I think they are considerably cheaper than the ones from Cummins also.

If anyone ever gets anywhere with an '03, I would love to hear about it. I have been following this on all the boards I can find any info on and so far it appears that those of us with the early 3rd gens are just flat hosed on this deal. I have a hard time believing it but so far nobody that I have seen or heard about has gotten it to work with the factory equipment on an '03 or early '04.

Graphite,

PM TDR member jelag. I don't think I ever got the part number, I ordered a shifter mounted switch and like 4 of the ECM pins from him.

Hercules, that kind of makes sense about the electronic throttle deal. But it kind of doesn't because the cruise control still works on my '03. There has to be a way to make it work! I will not stop until I find out how! Or until I get lazy and forget about until someone digs up another thread like this.

Jeff

Yeah i know, if the vacuum pump can control the aaps for the cruise, then why wouldn't it work for the idle up? Or maybe it's because the 05's got a more power computer or something?

Hello,

Does anyone know if this will work on a 2004. 5? I've tried it with no success. Any ideas? Thanks for all the insight.

Pete

PKroll, Welcome to the site, You didn't say if you have an auto or manual, If it's an auto, the function probably needs to be enabled at the dealer. I don't remember if it worked for the manual guys on the 04. 5, some one else will chime in on that hopefully. Brad

Hello,

Thanks.

Yes it is a manual trans. Yes, the dealer enabled the high idle. I ran the ground to the 22 pin.

According to Marco the Smarty has the Manual high idle program in it. Also he said it should work on the 2003s. I looked in my tech manual for the 50 way ECM plug C2 Connector Pin out and pin #22 is blank. I think I will give it a try and will report back.
