Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Idle Adjustment Issues

Sorry for making this rather redundant post, but as you read it I hope you'll understand.



I am trying to perform my idle adjustment on my 97 2500 4x4.

I don't have a factory manual so I have read tons of posts and tried using the instructions on http://www.dodgeram.org/tech/dsl/adjustments/2nd_Gen-Idle.htm but have yet to find the @#$%@ adjustment bolt.

(am I the only one who thinks the drawing is a bit ambiguous as it has nothing to use as a point of orientation)



I have tried from the front of the engine, from the driver's side, from under and behind the master cylinder, from in front of the the master cylinder etc etc... I still can't find it.



I need to get this done soon as the idle is just under an indicated 500 rpm. It is getting rather tedious to drive, not to mention dangerous if I stall in the wrong place.



Can somebody please help me with this.

Sorry for the ranting but I am a fairly frustrated.

I,ll try to help by saying, with the hood open and something to stand on, on the drivers side look down into the opening behind the injector pump you will see a portion of the injector pump linkage, place your right hand on it to push toward the front of the truck and with your left hand at the same time pull back the throttle linkage slowly (with the engine off of course) while holding back on the throttle cable take your right hand and feel around next to the lever that comes off the injector pump you should feel a threaded bolt on that lever that is used to adjust the idle, it is a 10mm. Once you feel it you will probably know where to see it barely. Hope this helps, Good Luck.

Put something heavy on the accelerator pedal (i use an old heavy jack). It will move the linkage forward and make it much easier to see and adjust the low idle adjustment bolt. You might want to remove the fuel filter drainage tube to make more room for your wrench also.
