Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Idle Ajustment

I just installed a 3k gsk in my truck. Best mod ever, night and day difference. There is only one thing wrong. Sometimes the engine will idle fine but other times out of the blue the idle will dip down to about 250 RPM and you have to really feather the accelerater to get it right. But like I said, it doesn't do it all the time. Has anyone else experianced this? It didn't do it before the spring kit.

I had to tighten my springs a couple of clicks to raise my idle (gross adjustment). Then I fine tuned it with the regular adjustment. It's been perfect ever since, no fluctuation at all.

How do you tighten the springs?

The nut on top of the springs that you removed to install the new heavier springs is what you tighten. Make sure both nuts are the same height or you will get either a low or high idle. I had to adjust mine out on one of the spings cuz it was idleing really high, almost 1000 rpm. Both of my springs now sit at . 040" from the top of the nut to the top of the stud. One click turn of the nut is equal to about . 017" according to Piers diesel. Measure the distance form the top of the adjusting nut to the top of the stud that it is screwed onto, on both of the spring sets and either make sure they are the same. I think they should be anywhere between . 025" minimum and max of . 070". It varies from engine to engine as they are all set at different adjustments. Try that and see what happens.
