jponder,
I did quite a bit of homework last year on the subject, but as usual was pressed for time in the end. I went to the local autoparts store and bought a choke cable. I drilled a small hole in the top of the foot pedal lever and used the cable to pull the lever away from the firewall. It was adequate but not the greatest thing. I removed it when the ESPAR arrived but now regret removing it as there are still times I'd like to keep the idle up.

I like the simple solution at the top of the this thread and may just do that.

BTW, you can run the ESPAR with the engine running which should inject enough heat to prevent the engine from getting too cold. It will not work for me driving down the road as it throws a fault code.

I know that in the first Gen forum there was a post for the part #s for the FACTORY throttle control in our '89s. Works with a cam at the pedal on the floor and hold the pedal down and a cable tee handle under the dash. Pretty neat! I thought everybody had one!

Zilla,
I like the BD brake, I've had one for three years now. They are not dependent on exhaust size. Try it and you'll like it.

David_VT,

Since you seem to be the one with the know how on the potentiometer topic. I was wondering, is there any way to send a fixed, artificial signal to the ecm to bring the engine RPM up? Say, for use with a PTO or something. What would the value(resistance) be? Where could one tap in to the vehicle system to accomplish such a thing?
I know the ECM's from Cummins come with this capability. But the ECM's from DC are not the same. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

What ever happened to the PTO wire on the trucks?
I remember last year one of the guys was fooling around with that signal wire to get the RPM increase. Seemed to be only on the heavy duty models, the wire is near the brake cylinder, orange with a PTO sticker on it. Our company truck, 360 gas powered 96 has it, but our 99 doesn't. #ad
