Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) idle problem

im having a problem with the truck idleing when i come to a stop. i just installed l/c dv's. i drove my truck home about 100 miles. when i got to the top of the off ramp to stop at the light my truck started loping really bad. i can drive in the city and it wont do it but if i drive on the highway when i get to the city it will do it. in neutral it will do it at about 1000 rpms. my idle is a little low about 600 rpm does this have anything to do with it? the fuel filter,lift pump,over flow valve are all new. can somebody inform me on whats going on and will it hurt anything? thanks

Your idle should be at least 750 in gear with the AC on. 800 is better.

i agree with joe g i had the simular problems... take five minutes and bump the idle ... life will be much better

Idle

I had the same problem with my truck. It was really bad when towing after the truck got good and warm. I had to keep my foot on the throttle when trying to slow down or stop. I kicked up the idle to 850 in gear with the AC on and the problem went away. Oo.

i just fix my idle today. i put the idle up to 830rpm and the problem went away. i think all is good i only got to drive the truck for a few minutes. will find out tomorrow when i drive it back home. thanks for all the help. richard
