wondering what normal idle rpm would be just purchased this truck1999 2500 4x4 Quad cab it is 900 rpm seems high to me dont know any one around me with one to compare I work on heavy trucks cummins isx cat c15 most idle at 600-700 rpm dont have alot of experiance with these b series only in a few buses . been wanting one finally got it love it so far. :-laf

These things are set to idle high. 900 seems to be ok and mine is about the same though a little newer truck. For sure the b series idles a lot higher than othe diesels you maybe familiar with.

Mine idles at arond 850-875 also, though, when coasting to a stop it stays at around 900-925 till I completely stop.

thanks for the answers guess mine is ok at 900. lost the transmission 3 days after i bought it new it was week when i bought it pulled it and a friend of mine and I rebuilt it put in a triple disk torque converter and a bd valve body while it was laid up i installed a 4" moto blue exhaust a s+b intake auto meter triple gauge pod with trans temp, pyro and boost gauge and lastly a diablo power puck want stage 3 injectors but need to decide what to do for lift pump don't know if the stock pump will handle the injectors any ideas appreciated.

Where is your fuel press gauge?? When i bought my truck i installed a EDGE COMP immediatly and installed a FP gauge. With stock injectors and the comp on level 4 the fuel press would drop to 2psi @high rpm and 0psi on level 5!! Upgade your lift pump and get a gauge, you'll be happy you did!
