Why does my 2007 around 800 and it seems like all other trucks at 750? Is there a programmer out there that can bring the idle down to 600 or so? Seems like the idle would be MUCH quieter... and the clutch would not have to be slipped as much on takeoff.

Didnt the raise the idle on the 12v's from 600 due to epa regs or something?

My 06 idles at 750 and there is a very noticable difference in noise etc versus my 07's 800.

My 05 f-150's diablo programmer let me adjust idle speed, why cant we do it on these trucks?

That is very odd... Is there a change its just the gauge reading a little off... as the tach is driven by the ECM?? You could plug in a scan tool to check. .

But otherwise, no I do not think there is a provision.

750 rpm's idle has been the standard from the inception of the B engine in these trucks. Its supposed to be the optimal idle speed. There is no programmer that I know that will allow you to change that.

Idling at 800 sounds like a problem with some electronics. Have you tried going back to stock and seeing what happens? Did this happen with the cam change?

its been the same 800 rpm idle since i bought the truck new. It had a smarty programmer on it after about 10k miles, i have also ran a diablosport predator and I now run a smarty Jr. All programs on all of them are the same 800 rpm idle. Stock idles the same.

IS this a 06. 5-07 5. 9 thing? i know the computer was changed in 06. 5?

I have seen alot of the 5. 9 cummins in trucks and other equipment, boats etc that idle at 600 rpm... and it seems so much quieter.

The current flash on the 06-07 5. 9l trucks does indeed have the idle speed set at 800rpm. I've wanted a way to adjust this since I got the truck.

I heard Dodge was working something to help with stalling after the previous flash... could be that... . (I say just learn to drive a truck)
